Margot Robbie seems to possess that elusive star quality that draws audiences in effortlessly.
The Australian actress captivated the crowd at the Los Angeles premiere of “Wuthering Heights” on Wednesday night, embodying the drama of her character with her sartorial choice. Robbie, who takes on the role of Catherine Earnshaw in the film directed by Emerald Fennell, made a bold statement on the red carpet.
Her ensemble featured a striking mix of crimson and black, showcasing a sheer, form-fitting strapless lace bodice that transitioned into a voluminous skirt with dramatic black and red hues. This choice mirrored the intensity and passion of the character she portrays.
Set to release on Valentine’s Day, the film pairs Robbie with Jacob Elordi, who portrays the brooding Heathcliff in this adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel. Elordi matched the occasion with his own stylish appearance, joining Robbie on the red carpet.
The “Euphoria” star exuded sophistication in an all-black outfit, layering a jacket over a black shirt and pants. His look was completed with a black scarf elegantly draped around his neck and a cummerbund, perfectly complementing the evening’s dramatic theme.
Robbie styled her hair in an elegant updo, and accessorized with a romantic pendant choker for their turn on the carpet.
Earlier in the day, Robbie turned up the heat in a red-hot snakeskin Dilara Findikoglu outfit.
The jaw-dropping look featuring a shell-covered bra, corset and barely-there miniskirt that showed off swaths of thigh and dipped low in the front.
She added an enormous pear-shaped diamond choker and wore the Cece Jewellery custom ring that Robbie gifted Elordi featuring two skeletons intertwined.
Robbie, who was a pioneer of the method-dressing trend with 2023’s “Barbie,” has already begun her “Wuthering Heights” transformation. She kicked off the promo tour with a stop at “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” wearing a totally sheer black lace McQueen dress and heels featuring a rosary bead embellishment.
She’s been favoring bell sleeves in tribute to the Elizabethan-era film, also sporting a Roberto Cavalli mini and sky-high Christian Louboutin heels.
Stylist Andrew Makumal explained the inspiration behind a duo of feather-covered Victoria Beckham looks — one featuring a black corset and the other a very angelic minidress — quoting from the 1847 book.
“Tossing about, she increased her feverish bewilderment to madness, and tore the pillow with her teeth…she seemed to find childish diversion in pulling the feathers from the rents she had just made, and ranging them on the sheet according to their different species,” he wrote on Instagram.
We can’t wait to see all the romantic and increasingly frenetic looks the pair have in store.
