Mason Ramsey captured the internet’s attention in early 2018 after a video of him yodeling Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues” inside a Walmart in Harrisburg, Illinois, went viral. Just 11 years old at the time, the lanky boy in cowboy boots caught the eye of a shopper, who filmed the spontaneous performance and posted it online. Within days, the clip had drawn millions of views, turning the Walmart yodeling kid into a pop-culture phenomenon. Ramsey is now grown up and bears little resemblance to the youngster who became an instant internet sensation, although his devotion to cowboy boots and belt buckles remains unchanged.
The viral breakout quickly led to a music career, and Ramsey has continued sharing updates with his 1.4 million Instagram followers. Born in November 2006, he may be an adult now, but yodeling is still part of his sound. These days, he wears his ash-blond hair longer and has outgrown the lanky frame he had as a child. His fashion has evolved, too — WWD reports that his closet includes at least one Gucci item — yet his country influences remain clear. Photos across his social media show him regularly wearing jeans, Western buckles, and leather boots.

Those who remember Ramsey from his Walmart days have lots of feelings seeing him today. “Dammm I’m old af,” an X user commented under the side-by-side post above. Others expressed similar sentiments. “Time doesn’t just pass, it yodels straight through childhood,” a second netizen noted. Others praised Ramsey’s loyalty to his style. “The belt buckle stayed. he is COMMITTED to the bit and i respect it so much,” a third commenter shared. Ramsey has definitely grown up, and he’s carried his passion with him.

Ramsey’s rise after the 2018 viral video was almost immediate. He did not even realize he had become an online star until roughly a week later, when his cousin told him about the clip’s success. Soon afterward, he signed with Atlantic Records and Big Loud Records. Between 2018 and 2024, he released four EPs and appeared on a remix of Lil Nas X’s record-breaking hit “Old Town Road.” His first full-length studio album, “I’ll See You In My Dreams,” arrived in 2024.
The album represented a major step forward for the singer. “This is my ‘coming of age’ album. I’ve done EPs, but I have never done an album before, so this has been a work in progress for several years now,” Ramsey told Music Row that year. However, difficult challenges followed soon after. In 2025, Ramsey experienced several professional setbacks, including splits from his label, agency, and manager. “Last year was one of the most difficult years of my life,” he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post in January 2026, according to Country Now.
In a matter of months, he had to start completely over. Two years later, he released his second album, “Outlaw in Love,” in August 2026. “I wrote every song on this album which makes this project so special to me,” he wrote on X. It wasn’t an easy ride, but it led Ramsey into an important soul-searching journey. “I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out who I am as an artist, and this album feels like the closest I’ve come to capturing that,” he told Music Row.
