Millie Gibson has been revealed as the Time Lord’s new sidekick in the upcoming series of Doctor Who.
Ncuti Gatwa’s co-star was announced on the BBC Children in Need. The 18-year-old actress will play the role of Ruby Sunday, companion to the new Doctor, when the long-running program returns towards the end of 2023.
Fans got their first glimpse of Sex Education’s Gatwa, who will play the 15th incarnation of the Time Lord, when he appeared briefly in a trailer at the end of The Power of the Doctor. Jodie Whittaker had been playing the role, which has also been played by Matt Smith, David Tennant and Peter Capaldi.

Upon her casting, Millie Gibson said in a statement, “Whilst still being in total disbelief, I am beyond honoured to be cast as the Doctor’s companion.
“It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me.
“What better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa’s side, I just can’t wait to get started.”
7/8 Dr. Who Creator Was Looking For A New Generation Of Talent
Doctor Who will return next year with the creator of the critically acclaimed TV show It’s a Sin and the original Queer as Folk, Russell T Davies as showrunner. Davies had led the revival of Doctor Who from 2005 to 2009.
Davies said in a statement that, “It’s the great honour of my job to find the next generation of talent and Millie shines like a star already. She’s brilliant, dynamic, clever and a wonderful actor.
“As a Coronation Street fan, I’ve seen Millie survive chases, guns and sieges, but that’s nothing compared to what lies ahead for Ruby Sunday.”

Millie Gibson is best known for her role as Kelly Neelan in Coronation Street. She received the best young performer award for the role at the British Soap Awards earlier this year. Some of her plots have included being homeless, being involved in a hate crime, being kidnaped and having her mother die of cancer.
Speaking on her exit from the long running British soap, Millie said, ”I have no responsibilities. I don’t have kids, I don’t have a mortgage to pay or anything like that, I’m still grateful to be living at home.”
”So, I thought I’m just going to see what else the world has. If it does, it does – that would be quite good, wouldn’t it?”

5/8 Millie Gibson Has Appeared In British TV Shows
Although she is known for her work on Coronation Street, she appeared in one episode of the BBC One drama series Love, Lies and Records as a character called Mia.
In 2018, she appeared in three episodes of the mini-series Butterfly. The show centered on a trans girl called Maxine Duffy who was coming to terms with her gender identity. Millie played her elder sister Lily who begins to get jealous of the attention Maxine gets.

She recently took to Instagram to tease that she was on a romantic getaway for two in Cumbria. She shared romantic snaps from the balcony and cuddled up in front of a log fire.
Eagle-eyed fans also noticed she has recently refollowed Drew and also his family on Instagram.

Jodie Whittaker, who played the 13th Doctor in the BBC’s long-running and immensely popular series, regenerated on Sunday, October 23, 2022, revealing David Tennant, who was the 10th Doctor. The Doctor in the science fiction show doesn’t die, merely regenerates into a new body.
Tennant and former companion Catherine Tate (who played Donna Noble) are set to reprise their roles for the show’s 60th anniversary. The BBC confirmed that the popular duo will appear in three special episodes, set to air in November 2023. Heartstopper actor Yasmin Finney has also joined the cast as Rose alongside Neil Patrick Harris for the upcoming special.
“David Tennant, previously known as the 10th Doctor, is now also known as the 14th Doctor. Confused? Don’t worry, he seems a little perplexed too,” the network revealed in a statement.
