Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the U.K. has brought another unexpected complication—this time concerning their children’s school. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly caused a stir at the British school attended by Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet after parents received a reminder not to photograph other children. Although it remains unclear whether the notice was connected to the Sussexes, one parent questioned its timing.
“It can’t be a coincidence that these notices are going out now just after Harry and Meghan have moved their children into the local area,” the unnamed parent told The Mirror. The parent called the warning “complete overkill,” adding that other families would be outraged if someone deliberately photographed children who were not their own. The reported notice is the latest challenge the couple has faced since returning to the U.K. in August, following their abrupt decision to change schools. That move was reportedly prompted by privacy and traffic-related concerns.
A representative for the Sussexes previously told Hello! magazine that the change followed discussions with the family’s security team about “the practicalities of their current arrangements.” The representative added that Harry and Meghan remained “extremely grateful” to the teachers and staff for the “love, care and effort” they had shown the family. Earlier this week, Meghan’s phone number was also reportedly leaked from a parents’ WhatsApp group chat, an incident that has understandably left the couple shaken, according to The Mirror.

Despite the difficulties, Harry and Meghan’s U.K. return appears to be going well for the family, who are said to be enjoying their time together. During an interview with Hello! magazine at the Invictus Spirit Awards on September 17, the Duke of Sussex spoke positively about settling back into Britain with Meghan and their children. “The last two weeks have been — it’s been eventful. We’re getting stuck into the work. Kids are in school. We’re happy,” Harry said. “It’s great. It’s wonderful to be back on British soil.” However, soon after their arrival, King Charles III appeared to dampen expectations by clarifying that Harry and Meghan would continue as non-working royals.
The Sussexes made headlines in August with the news that they were returning to Britain following their divisive decision to step back from royal life, and later relocate to California, in 2020. The Sussexes have been living in Montecito for the last six years and have not disclosed their reasons for leaving. However, the king’s health was reportedly a major factor in their decision. “I know that Charles is a big reason for their return,” a royal insider disclosed to Page Six at the time. They also also wanted Archie and Lilibet to be closer to his side of the family. However, at least one royal is said to be rattled by their return: Prince William, who has been feuding with his younger brother since at least 2018.
