Recent legal troubles for Andrew Mountbatten Windsor have left Meghan Markle feeling a sense of “total vindication” regarding her and Prince Harry’s choice to break away from the royal family in 2020, according to an insider speaking to In Touch.
The former Duke of York, aged 66, has been repeatedly mired in controversy due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein. Despite his consistent denials of any wrongdoing, he faced arrest on Thursday, February 19, under suspicion of misconduct in public office.
“While Meghan finds the situation both disturbing and distressing, it further solidifies her conviction that their decision to step away was absolutely correct,” the source reveals. “Seeing everything unfold makes her extremely thankful they managed to exit when they did.”

Following their dramatic exit from royal duties, Meghan, now 44, and Harry, 41, relocated to Montecito, California. There, they reside with their two children, Prince Archie, who is 6, and Princess Lilibet, who is 4.
The source continues, “For Meghan, this ongoing scandal with Andrew, coupled with the Firm’s response, only underscores that any idea of maintaining a part-time role within the institution is neither feasible nor wise. She perceives the environment as deeply corrupt and toxic, and is keen on keeping her family far removed from it.”
However, “it’s a lot more complicated” for Harry, notes the source.
“He’s homesick and has been dreaming of this life where he and Meghan and the kids could divide their time and maybe even serve as part-time working royals, the way he pitched when they left,” says the source. “But this situation has hammered home how deeply unlikely it is that will ever happen.”
