Meghan Markle Reportedly Sent Dad Letter Barring Grandkid Visits

Meghan Markle reportedly wrote to her estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., in 2025 to tell him she knew about the accusations made against him.

Several publications, including Hello! and The Sun, reported on Saturday, October 24, that Meghan, 45, sent the letter to Thomas, 82, while he was in the hospital. According to those reports, Meghan allegedly said she would not communicate with him again and that her children — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, whom she shares with Prince Harry — would not meet their grandfather because of the allegations.

According to The Sun, hospital employees delivered the message to Thomas’ bedside, where he allegedly had to sign paperwork acknowledging that he had received it.

Meghan and Thomas have been estranged since 2018.

Meghan Markle Breaks Silence on Child Sex Abuse Photo Claims Against Dad

Meghan Markle said she was “deeply distressed” after allegations emerged that her estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., had been found with material depicting child sexual abuse. “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may […]

“In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection. That letter was subsequently shared with me. It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father and I was given assurances that these were being investigated,” the Duchess of Sussex said in a statement to Us on Friday, October 23. “I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them. I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families.”

Earlier that day, Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., told The Sun that he allegedly found child sexual abuse material, or CSAM, at Thomas Sr.’s home in the Philippines and handed it over to authorities. Thomas Sr. strongly rejected the accusations, describing them as “sick lies.”

UK Police Address Thomas Markle Investigation

U.K. police have addressed reports concerning Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., who was allegedly found with photographic material depicting child sexual abuse. “We are aware of media reports that officers from the Met’s Royalty and Specialist Protection Command were involved in the passing on of a letter in 2018,” a Metropolitan Police […]

“I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed,” Meghan continued. “Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.”

The Sun subsequently reported that the 2018 letter also contained an allegation that Thomas Sr. had sexually assaulted a child. He has repeatedly denied the claims.

“I have never had sex with anyone under the age of 18,” Thomas Sr. told the Daily Mail on Saturday, saying he would “do whatever it takes” to defend his reputation.

Thomas Sr. also said Meghan never informed him about the allegations or the letter. “[Meghan] never said a word to me about this letter accusing me of such terrible things. If Meghan or anyone else had come to me in 2018 and told me about the letter, I would have had a chance to defend myself,” he told the outlet.
