Michelle Obama admits to repeated ‘battle’ with Barack in candid marriage conversation

Don’t mess with Michelle Obama’s thermostat.

The former first lady detailed her and Barack Obama’s repeated bedtime “battle” while chatting with Amy Poehler Tuesday.

The pair discussed being “at that age” where their sleeping temperature is vitally important on the “Good Hang” podcast.

“Sometimes I get in the bed, and I’m freezing,” Michelle, 61, explained. “Other times, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, take my skin off.’”

She admitted, “It’s a battle with a partner because he’s always cold and I’m like, ‘Do not touch [the thermostat].’ … Sometimes I wake up hot and I’ll wake him up [to ask], ‘Did you touch the thermostat? You touched it, didn’t you?’”

Michelle joked that Barack, 63, is now “scared of the thermostat” and will reply, “I didn’t, I swear.”

The “IMO” host, who likes “cool sheets” and a 68-degree bedroom, noted that she tells her “night owl” husband to “just put on some socks” when “he’s freezing” at night.

The candid marriage conversation came up as Michelle described her “embarrassing” love of bedtime, which makes her “giddy.”

The former lawyer said she likes to eat dinner at 6:30 p.m., have “catch-up conversations” and “together time” with Barack and then start “thinking about bed” around 8 p.m. — or “as soon as [she] can.”

She bragged, “My head hits the pillow, and I’m out. I don’t need an aid. I just need to put my head on the pillow.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Michelle revealed the deal she made with Barack when they wed in October 1992.

“I can tease [him], but [he] cannot tease me,” she told listeners.

Michelle clarified that she and daughters Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23, “mercilessly go after” the former president since “teasing is [their] love language.”

She continued, “When all of us are together, he doesn’t stand a chance. … I tell him, ‘When I tease you, it’s like a love tap.’”

While the longtime couple have faced rumors of marriage woes for months, Michelle continues to clap back at the speculation.

“Everybody would know [if we were having issues],” Most recently, she insisted on “Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett” podcast earlier this month that “everybody would know” if they were having issues since she is “not a martyr” and would be solving their “problems in public.”

Barack has subtly squashed rumors on his own with pointed Instagram posts.

For Valentine’s Day in February, the politician posted a sweet tribute reading, “Thirty-two years together and you still take my breath away.”
