A participant of the new Netflix series, Celebrity Bear Hunt, was left fearing for his life while filming the programme, it’s been revealed.

The show, which was released on Netflix on 5 February and features the iconic survivalist Bear Grylls, throws celebrities deep into the treacherous Costa Rican wilderness, where they become the prey in Bear’s unforgiving game.

On the day the series premiered, Bear appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss the daring escapades viewers can anticipate. In conversation with Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, it emerged that star Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen encountered sheer terror during the production.

Bear disclosed on GMB: “I gave them a whole bunch of training beforehand. But, you never really let your guard down until everyone’s safe at the end. I said to them, you’ll all be alive, but I can’t promise you won’t have some scars, scratches, bruises.”

Susanna highlighted: “Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen said this morning he thought he was going to die on your Bear Hunt! I think he turned out not to be quite as big and strong as he hoped!”

Reports regarding Laurence’s time on Celebrity Bear Hunt recently emerged, claiming he found himself in danger during a challenge with his co-stars. It was reportedly during a jump from a boat into a lake that trouble struck, ultimately leading to Bear coming to Laurence’s dramatic rescue, reports the Mirror.

Laurence offered a hint about his experience on the show, telling Radio Times: “I’m not going to blow too much of the surprise but it was literally, I think, one of the few times I have come face to face with mortality.”

On GMB, Bear gave viewers a sneak peek into what lies ahead for Celebrity Bear Hunt, hinting that stars like Shirley Ballas and Danny Cipriani are set to showcase their impressive survival prowess.

Hosted by ITV’s own Holly Willoughby, the cast of Celebrity Bear Hunt includes Joe Thomas, Kola Bokinni, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Leomie Anderson, Lottie Moss, Mel B, Shirley Ballas, Steph McGovern, Una Healy, Big Zuu, Boris Becker, and Danny Cipriani.

These 12 famous faces will be left to survive in the wilds of Costa Rica, as they are pursued by none other than renowned adventurer and survival ace Bear. The series will see the celebrities vying against each other, facing eliminations throughout the duration, all leading up to one celebrity being crowned victor of this Netflix adventure.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays from 6am on ITV1. Celebrity Bear Hunt is available to stream via Netflix from 5 February.
