It’s not uncommon for reality series to have crossovers, especially for reunion shows after multiple seasons. But in the case of Netflix‘s Nick and Vanessa Lachey-led series (yes, another one!) Perfect Match, the crossover promises to be epic. Former reality TV cast members from a variety of shows—including Love is Blind, Too Hot to Handle, and The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On—come together to try and find love… Again.
While many of the show’s lineup found at least short-term love once before, the singles were rounded up to create what promises to be another hit dating show. And while Nick and Vanessa probably can’t lose with their latest series, they might just be inundating the reality dating show pool—and setting the cast up for more drama than true love.
Nick And Vanessa Seem To Love Dating Shows
Nick and Vanessa Lachey already have multiple reality dating shows under their belt, with at least one of them driven by their own love story. The Ultimatum stemmed from the couple’s experiences in their early days, when they split up after Vanessa issued an ultimatum.
Though they seemed to acknowledge on the show that an ultimatum might not be the healthiest thing, they created an entire reality series around it, giving all of the couples on the show the opportunity to “test drive” a new relationship.
Plenty of viewers pointed out that it was like reality TV-endorsed cheating, but since the couples signed up for the experience, the gray area was more or less ignored. Ultimately, not many of the original couples from the series stayed together, which was, after all, the point.
Now, a handful of them are getting the chance to find love on Perfect Match, but the new series might have been rushed in immediately after another series ended—and a few cast members weren’t exactly happy about it.
Perfect Match Took Some Cast Members Straight From Love Is Blind
Most viewers who watch shows like Love is Blind and Perfect Match know that, to some extent, the shows are orchestrated. Footage is cut, drama is enhanced, and some things are simply swept under the rug (seriously, everyone wants to know the details behind why Andrew can’t talk about his fake crying scene).
It’s also been rumored that the Love is Blind cast’s contracts included some tricky clauses that kept them from speaking about various aspects of the show (including cheating scandals like that of SK and Raven).
But with Perfect Match, it seems like the show’s producers got a bit ahead of themselves with casting the show, which premieres on Valentine’s Day. Multiple cast members from Love is Blind are appearing on Perfect Match, and it sounds like the taping of the series might have overlapped with season 3.
At the very least, producers would have been scoping the Love is Blind lineup for who could work on Perfect Match—and they chose one cast member whose near-marriage imploded in an unexpected way.

Shayne Jansen Was Cast In Perfect Match Before Breaking Up With Natalie

Love is Blind‘s Natalie Lee had a lot to say about her breakup with Shayne Jansen, but one surprising fact that came out of their tumultuous relationship is that Shayne apparently didn’t ever see the two enjoying forever together.
While Natalie was ultimately the one to turn Shayne down at the altar—after a fight where he apparently said very hurtful things and during which Natalie felt unsafe—she might have had a logical reason.
Natalie says that although she and Shayne were both approached for Perfect Match, because the casting department didn’t know they were dating at the time, they each told the other that they said no.
Later, Lee says, she found out that Shayne had lied. He “started the casting process in 2021 without [her] knowledge at the time, while [they] were still together.”
What’s more, after their breakup (which came shortly after Natalie’s discovery), Shayne reached out to reconcile with her while working on Perfect Match (in February 2022).
She related that he reached out again after the show wrapped to see if she would meet up to discuss their relationship, but she turned him down.
For his part, Shayne pushed back against Natalie’s allegations but didn’t specifically respond to them, instead seeming to accuse her of trying to “destroy” his character.
But if what Natalie says is true, it sounds as if Shayne didn’t find love on Perfect Match. Of course, fans won’t know for sure until the show plays out.
Other Cast Members From Love Is Blind Will Appear On Perfect Match
Shayne Jansen isn’t the only Netflix reality star to appear in Perfect Match. Per Netflix, the lineup also includes Damian Powers, who notably broke up with Gianninna Gibelli (who’s now engaged to a former Bachelor) and flaunted his just-a-friend, Francesca Farago (who also appears on Perfect Match).
It does seem as if producers (or possibly Nick and Vanessa themselves) really want to stir things up, but only time will tell whether Perfect Match is as much of a hit as the other dating shows.
