Next Gen Star Gia Giudice Changes Her Tune About NYC Life

Next Gen NYC follows the lives of the children of Real Housewives stars, along with their friends, as they step out of their parents’ shadows and try to build careers of their own in the Big Apple. One of the most recognized faces on the new Bravo reality TV series is Gia Giudice, who has graced our TV screens since she was a child on The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

As the daughter of fan-favorite Housewife, Teresa Giudice, Gia exudes confidence and determination on the show, proving that she’s just as driven and focused as her famous mom. She’s also not shy about stating why she’d never move out of New Jersey to live in New York City, even if her comments may make New Yorkers a little angry. However, it seems that Gia has since changed her tune about NYC life.

Gia Giudice grew up in New Jersey, with fans watching her journey from a young girl to adulthood on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, alongside her mom, Teresa Giudice, since the show’s debut in 2009. Now, Gia is all grown up, making major career moves and enjoying life with her friends on Bravo’s Next Gen NYC.

But, unlike most of her castmates, Gia still calls New Jersey home. She continues to live in her mom’s Montville mansion, commuting to the city whenever necessary. However, it looks like Gia is about to make the big move to the Big Apple, which is something she initially had no interest in.

In a June interview with Today, Gia revealed that she has plans to move to New York City by the end of the summer. The decision makes sense, especially since filming Next Gen NYC is primarily in Manhattan. Commuting from New Jersey has proven to be less ideal, with constant traffic turning what should be a quick drive on the bridge or tunnel into a frustrating and time-consuming journey.

“It’s just my career kind of started picking up and my brand started growing, and I am in the city at least four times a week, so it’s a lot of back and forth from Jersey,” Gia said, adding that she will “start looking at apartments and moving into something in September.”

“I’m either going to do Manhattan or Jersey City,” she said. “I’m gonna figure it out.”

Gia Gave Three Reasons Why She’d Never Move To The Big Apple

Before Gia made the sudden change of heart about moving to New York City, she did cause quite an uproar when she shared a few reasons why she would never live in the concrete jungle.

In Episode 3 of Next Gen NYC, Gia was seen speaking to her mom, Teresa, about a party she was planning that would take place at her mother’s Jersey mansion. However, when her mom gives her TMI about her laser hair removal, Gia gets asked in a confessional if she ever sees herself moving out one day.

“I’m for sure gonna move out,” she states, adding, “But I don’t think I ever want to move into the city.”

Gia then added, “It’s beautiful from an aerial view. [And] beautiful when you take photos.” But, then she gave three reasons why she couldn’t picture herself living in the city — “It doesn’t smell nice. It’s literally just gross.”

And, one of her biggest reasons for not moving to the city besides it’s smell? “There’s taxes in the city on literally everything. No taxes in New Jersey!”

And, although Gia has since changed her tune on moving to the Big Apple, she did share in her interview with Today that she would always make time to head back to Jersey to be with her family, and her dog. “I’ll still spend my weekend at home, maybe every other weekend at home. I have to see my Bella,” she said.

Is Gia Still Pursuing Law?

Before Gia got to star in her own Bravo series, she had made the decision to pursue law, specifically criminal law, after the struggles both her parents, Teresa and Joe Giudice, had faced which saw them serving time in prison due to fraud charges. Gia graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in criminal justice in 2023, and that same year, began to study for her LSAT.

However, Gia has since put her dreams of becoming a criminal justice lawyer on hold as her career as an influencer has skyrocketed. Additionally, Gia launched her Casual Chaos podcast, which has been quite successful. In the first episode, she dished on why she put being a lawyer on pause.

“Starting to become more active on social media did not deter my love for the law, but it did deter my focus to becoming a lawyer.”

She continued, “If my heart was fully set on becoming a lawyer, I would have had to give up social media, give up everything I was doing, and honestly give up the money coming in. I’m just being real with you. So at that point, I was like, ‘Am I really going to stop all of this right now?'”

“Don’t be mad at me, guys, for not becoming a lawyer. I still love it,” she told her listeners.

In fact, many of her castmates on Next Gen NYC have also found success as influencers, including close friend Ariana Biermann, the daughter of The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kim Zolciak. Like Gia, Ariana has starred on the series since she was a child, and fans of the show were happy to see her all grown up and moving away from her mother’s shadow. In Season 1, Ariana moves to the Big Apple to pursue her dreams of becoming a fashion designer. However, that dream gets questioned by her castmate Ava Dash, daughter of record executive Damon Dash and fashion designer Rachel Roy.

But if they want to be true New Yorkers, they’ll learn that no dream is too big—as long as they’ve got the hustle and drive to make it a reality.

Next Gen NYC airs new episodes every Tuesday at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
