Nick Reiner, son of filmmaker Rob Reiner, is currently in solitary confinement and under suicide watch following the tragic death of his parents.
According to a police source, Nick must wear a blue suicide-prevention garment at all times while detained at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles, as reported by People on Saturday.
Nick is being held at the largest mental health facility in the U.S., known for its harsh conditions, including infestations and unsanitary environments. This comes in the wake of charges against him for two counts of first-degree murder relating to the deaths of his father, Rob, and mother, Michele Singer Reiner. He also faces a special allegation of using a knife, as reported by The Post earlier this week.
The couple was discovered deceased in their Brentwood, Los Angeles, residence on December 14.
Sources previously informed The Post that it was their daughter, Romy, who found the couple with multiple stab wounds and their throats slashed. Rob was 78 years old, and Michele was 70.
Just hours before their deaths, Rob and Michele attended Conan O’Brien’s holiday party on Saturday night.
While there, a lifelong family friend told The Post that Rob and Michele got into a big fight with Nick, 32.
“They had had an argument at Conan’s holiday party, and Rob had been telling people that they’re scared for Nick and scared that his mental state was deteriorating,” the insider shared.
Nick’s erratic behavior was allegedly witnessed by several other partygoers, according to multiple outlets.
Nick was reportedly diagnosed with schizophrenia prior to the gruesome murders of his parents, and the medications he was taking were allegedly making him act “erratic and dangerous,” according to TMZ.
Nick was arrested Sunday evening, and made his first court appearance on Wednesday.
An arraignment has been set for Jan. 7, 2026, and Nick is expected to plead not guilty by reason of insanity.
