Taking inspiration from the highly-popular video game The Last of Us, the newly launched HBO series follows the plot line closely in their own televised version of the show. Now, fans of the video game can watch as Joel guides Ellie through dangerous paths within the city in order to get her to the Fireflies hiding in the Massachusetts State House, which is located outside the quarantine zone. It has also been rumored that the show will incorporate elements of two other ‘The Last of Us’ titles, including The Last of Us Part II and The Last of Us: Left Behind. Already, fans seem to be loving the show, and it has received swathes of positive reviews.

While many fans already know how the story plays out, there will be many who have never played the game who are still unaware of the proceeding events. In the first episode, we see Joel and his daughter, among several other cast members. While some are here to stay, others are only set to make a short appearance on the show. However, during the first episode, we are introduced to the character of Sarah Miller, and now, many fans have been left wondering more about the actor who plays her.

Who Is Nico Parker And What Has She Been In?

During the first episode of the first season, we are greeted with Sarah Miller, the daughter of one of the main characters, Joel. Sarah is portrayed by the actress Nico Parker.

Parker is a British actress who was born in 2004, the daughter to film director and screenwriter Ol Parker. However, she has only recently just made her break within the acting world.

Growing up with parents who were directly involved in the film and entertainment industry, it only seems logical that Parker would follow in their footsteps.

At the young age of fourteen, Parker landed her first ever big career break, starring in Dumbo (2019), which was directed by Tim Burton. She has also briefly starred in the TV series The Third Day during three episodes, as well as Reminiscence in 2021.

This previous experience likely opened doors and allowed Parker to land the role of Sarah in The Last Of Us TV adaptation, making it one of her most lucrative roles to date. As millions of viewers tune in from around the world, it is very likely that the role will help Parker to gain further recognition throughout the industry.

This sentiment is reflected in the amount of critical praise that the actress received for her performance in the series.

The role of Sarah takes inspiration from the original video game, portraying a young girl of 14 years old trying to escape a zombie-infested location with her father, Joel. While Sarah is not involved in the entire series, the storyline stays true to its original roots.

Nico Parker Really Enjoys Playing The Role Of Sarah Miller

Despite already having connections within the industry, Parker explained to Glamour Magazine that she actually landed the role by attending regular auditions.

“I just got involved in it in a very normal way. I already knew what The Last of Us was, and I knew it has fans, but it was only when I arrived in Calgary two years ago [for filming] I realized it was a really big deal.”

While the actress has received much praise for her performance as Sarah, what does the actress actually feel about playing such a lucrative role? In an interview with Today, Parker shared her excitement about the role, and it seems as though she was already well-prepped for the role a long time before her on-screen appearance occurred.

Speaking to the interviewer, she briefly opened up about her experience with the game: “When I was younger, I would watch people play the game and I always cried. I don’t remember one time that I watched it and I didn’t cry.”

Despite only appearing briefly in the series, the actress still portrayed her high levels of enthusiasm, telling the publication that she was ‘really excited’ to land the role and be able to play Sarah.

Which Other Actors Are A Part Of The Last of Us Cast?

Of course, the cast extends much further than just Nico Parker. Some of the other cast members include Bella Ramsey, who portrays the character of Ellie Williams, Anna Torv, Nick Offerman, Storm Reid, Ashley Johnson, and Merle Dandridge, and many others.

There is also Pedro Pascal, who earns a hefty salary. Altogether, there are around 27 total main cast members who are involved in the show.

It’s unclear for now who will stick with it, and who may move on to other projects. But it’s clear that everyone involved is thrilled to be included.

All fans can hope for is for them (and the series) to stick around.
