In a revealing interview conducted shortly after her extravagant 2022 wedding, Nicola Peltz appeared to have difficulty mentioning the names of her in-laws, David and Victoria Beckham. This detail came to light during a conversation with The Times, where the model discussed her celebrity-filled wedding, her much-talked-about wedding dress, and her decision to forego wearing a design by her mother-in-law. The interview resurfaced following a series of explosive Instagram posts from Brooklyn Beckham, the couple’s eldest son, who addressed the widely publicized family tension.
Brooklyn, aged 27, accused his parents of persistently attempting to sabotage his relationship with Nicola. He also shared insights into the events surrounding their wedding, which eventually led to the couple renewing their vows three years later. In a new opinion piece, journalist Polly Barton, who had previously spoken with Nicola, offered new perspectives on the model’s remarks and her take on the wedding dress controversy. Barton disclosed that Nicola seemed uncomfortable using David and Victoria’s first names.
Polly wrote, “I noticed Nicola’s hesitance to mention either David or Victoria by name. The closest she came was ‘she, Victoria, uh’ — otherwise, it was mostly ‘Brooklyn’s mom’ or ‘dad’.”
During the interview, the 31-year-old consistently referred to Victoria as “she,” only correcting herself to use Victoria’s full name when discussing why she ultimately chose not to wear a dress designed by the fashion icon.
Nicola shared at the time, “The truth is, I was part of a group chat with my mom, Victoria, and Leslie — my stylist for a decade. We were all so eager to kick off the design process together.”
“Um, and then Victoria, um, was like… Oh! And this was in the middle of me filming [her directorial debut] Lola James.
“So I was very busy. And then she, Victoria, uh, was very busy, and then we started this text chain, and a few days went by, and I didn’t hear anything, then I think Victoria thought since I was on set, maybe she didn’t want to upset me, so she called my mom and said that she couldn’t make the dress.
Nicola added: “She said that her, um, atelier couldn’t make the dress in time.”
In his scathing statements, Brooklyn accused his mum of pulling out of designing Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute.
The chef furiously penned: “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.”
During the lavish celebration, Nicola walked down the aisle in a custom-made Valentino Haute Couture gown.
