Britani Bateman‘s daughter, Olivia Bateman, has opened up about their ongoing conflict, shedding light on the rumored misunderstandings and clarifying misinformation. She also addressed why she and her sister refrained from participating in Real Housewives of Salt Lake City earlier.

When Britani joined the series in its fifth season, she mentioned she was estranged from her daughters, including Olivia, who was a teenager at the time. Neither daughter appeared in that season. Recently, Olivia provided her perspective, claiming that Britani became less present in their lives after her marriage to Olivia’s former stepfather. Olivia suggested this pattern repeated itself with Britani’s on-and-off relationship with Jared Osmond, with whom Britani has had multiple breakups.

In a discussion on The Bravo Investigator, Olivia addressed Britani’s assertion that their absence from filming was due to Bronwyn Newport. Britani had claimed that Bronwyn allegedly informed her best friends, who then supposedly told her daughters, that Britani was speaking negatively about them on camera, leading them to cut off contact.

“I want to clarify this,” Olivia stated. “My mom keeps bringing it up, even though we’ve already discussed it. We’ve pinpointed where all the miscommunications happened.”

“I would love to clear this up. Okay, because my mom keeps bringing it up when we’ve already talked it out,” said Olivia. “We’ve already figured out where all the miscommunications were.”

“So basically, it was just a long telephone game that got passed down to me and my sister, and the information was wrong,” she continued. “As things happen, we were being told that our mom was saying horrible things about us on season five, and that she was blaming her divorce on us, and she was saying we don’t talk to her because we’re jealous of her. All of this was not true.”

According to Olivia, the people who shared this information were not “doing the wrong thing.”

“They were just like, ‘Hey … we’re looking out for you. This is what we heard. Like, it’s not necessarily true. This is just the rumor — is that these things were said on the show. So if it comes out, like I just want to warn you,’” she recalled. “My mom loves to say that Bronwyn’s the reason we don’t talk to her when that’s never, ever, ever been true. We were already not talking and estranged when we got this information.”

“Did it make things a little bit worse? Yeah,” Olivia added. “And it made us not want to film because … I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. Like we sound like horrible people. We sound like we’re like little monsters and brats.’ And so like yeah, it made us not want to film. It made our relationship a little bit worse, but it’s not the reason, you know … It’s like she’s pointing fingers to everybody else who had nothing to do with it.”

But Olivia said she now has a “lot more empathy” for her mom’s on-off relationship with Jared — as Olivia herself recently went through a breakup, and she knows it isn’t “so easy.”
