Orlando Bloom is keeping it classy in the wake of his split from Katy Perry.

The 48-year-old actor opened up about the breakup for the first time during a conversation with Today on Friday, September 5, while promoting his new film, The Cut.

“There’s been some personal changes in your life since you were here the last time. How are you doing?” Melvin asked.

“I’m great, man. I’m so grateful,” Bloom responded, adding a heartfelt nod to their 5-year-old daughter, Daisy. “We have the most beautiful daughter. You know when you leave everything on the field like I did in this movie? I feel grateful for all of it.”

Bloom concluded on a positive note about co-parenting and moving forward: “And we’re great. We’re going to be great. Nothing but love.”

Perry, 40, and Bloom made their separation official via a joint statement from their reps on July 3, following months of speculation about the end of their six-year engagement.

“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” their spokespeople told Us Weekly.

Insiders previously confirmed that the split had been “a long time coming” and described the couple as “amicable.” “They’ve been through a lot together and while they’ve decided to go their separate ways, there’s still a mutual respect between them,” the source added. “They’re still very much in touch and co-parenting Daisy together. For the sake of their daughter, they’re committed to keeping things amicable.”

Bloom’s ex-wife, Miranda Kerr, also praised his mature approach to breakups. During Thursday’s episode of “The Kyle and Jackie O Show,” co-hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson noted that Bloom seems to end relationships “with respect and dignity,” leaving on “great terms.”

Kerr, 42, agreed, explaining, “Yeah, I mean, honestly, especially when you have children, it shouldn’t be any other way. Like, the needs of the child always has to come first, and it needs to be harmonious.”

She added, “And you know what? They’re gonna be in your life for the rest of your life because you have a child together, so you just [need to] be peaceful.”

The former Victoria’s Secret Angel, who shares 14-year-old son Flynn with Bloom, further emphasized the importance of forgiveness. “If you do have that animosity, that only hurts yourself. So actually, if you have forgiveness then you can then feel better from creating peace in your own life,” Kerr said.
