Pamela Anderson is poised to make a splashy return to the beach, nearly three decades after she last donned the iconic red swimsuit that catapulted her to international fame on Baywatch. The 90s television sensation, now 58, is reportedly in discussions with network executives about appearing in a planned reboot of the beloved series next year. Anderson was a staple of the original show, gracing 77 episodes from 1992 to 1997 and contributing to its staggering global audience of 1.1 billion viewers weekly.
Fox TV is gearing up to breathe new life into the franchise that captivated audiences for a decade until 1999, along with its spin-offs, Baywatch: Hawaii and Baywatch Nights, and a 2017 film adaptation. The upcoming reboot promises to introduce a fresh ensemble of lifeguards and rescuers patrolling Malibu Beach. Fox president Michael Thorn has pledged that the show will resonate with today’s viewers by offering “fresh stories” and showcasing “rising stars.”
However, Thorn and his colleagues are optimistic that Pamela Anderson—a self-proclaimed “Baywatch girl at heart”—might also draw in nostalgic fans with a special guest appearance or even a recurring role.
A senior insider from the production team revealed, “Nothing is finalized yet. If Pamela agrees, she could make a triumphant return as an older version of her beloved character, lifeguard CJ Parker, or take on an entirely new persona.
“The aim is that her comeback could pave the way for other cherished cast members from the show’s prime to make guest appearances.” This potential lineup includes original Baywatch stars such as Yasmine Bleeth, Carmen Electra, Traci Bingham, Donna D’Errico, and Gena Lee Nolin.
The actress’s comeback comes after she found love on the set of The Naked Gun, where she shared the screen with her new beau, Liam Neeson. The Taken star described his co-star as “gorgeous” and praised her “silliness” as fans caught their longing glimpses during their press tour.
According to insiders via People, the romance is still in its early stages as the pair are “figuring it out,” and their loved ones have seemed to support their union. Among the hundreds of fans who gushed over the Hollywood couple’s romance, Liam’s son Daniel commented two flame emojis, two white heart emojis, and a water pistol emoji on their latest couple snaps on Instagram.
Similarly, Joley Richardson, the sister of Liam’s late wife, actress Natasha Richardson, also shared her support for the duo with a string of red heart emojis. The Parent Trap star died in 2009 at the age of 45 from a shock accident while on a skiing holiday in Canada. During their 15-year marriage, the pair shared two sons, Micheál and Daniel.
