Paris Jackson has reportedly gained $65 million in payouts from the estate of her father, the legendary Michael Jackson, as revealed in a recent court document.
This substantial amount was detailed in an October 9 court submission by the estate’s executors, countering Paris’s earlier claims from June, where she expressed “concern” over the estate’s financial distributions.
The executors responded robustly in their latest filing, which was accessed by People magazine.
“The Petitioner has been one of the primary beneficiaries of the Executors’ financial strategies, having received approximately $65 million in benefits from the Estate,” the document asserts. “Such a sum would have been unlikely had the Executors adhered to a conventional estate management approach back in July 2009.”
The executors also highlighted their role in revitalizing and enhancing the profitability of the late pop icon’s estate.
“The Executors’ business judgment has taken an estate that ‘started out as nothing but debt and substantial ongoing obligations’ and ‘turned [it] into a $2 billion estate’ — an estate that is now ‘a powerhouse and a force in the music business today,’” the filing reads, per the outlet.
In Paris’ June filing, also obtained by People, she pointed out the executors’ requested approval for $625,000 in payments to three law firms back in 2018.
“These payments appear, at least in part, to consist of lavish gratuities bestowed upon already well-compensated counsel,” the court docs allege in part.
Reps for both Paris and Michael’s estate didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
A court filing by Michael’s estate executors in September also revealed that the singer’s sexual assault accusers, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, are seeking $400 million in damages over the alleged abuse.
The executors stated in a Sept. 15 filing obtained by Us Weekly that not paying the legal fees would have “profoundly destabilizing consequences for the estate,” noting that it most likely wouldn’t be able to continue to fight Robson and Safechuck’s lawsuits.
“The Estate would likely have to default … where numerous depositions, discovery matters, and other matters are scheduled to take place over the next several months, and where [Robson and Safechuck] are seeking $400 million,” the docs stated.
“It would be disastrous for the Estate to default in this case,” the docs continued.
Michael’s estate has repeatedly denied Robson and Safechuck’s sexual assault allegations, and a spokesperson for the estate reiterated to Page Six in September, “The lawsuit has no merit and Michael is innocent.”
Amid the legal drama between Paris and her father’s estate executors, the model and her aunt Janet Jackson happily reunited at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month.
Paris embraced the pop icon while attending the Tom Ford fashion show — despite years of rumors that they were at odds.
