Paul McCartney Reveals Surprise Detail From Swift-Kelce Wedding

Paul McCartney has shared fresh details about his reported performance at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July 3 wedding in New York City.

During a Friday appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the 84-year-old former Beatle said Swift asked him to perform The Beatles’ 1964 hit “I Want to Hold Your Hand” at the celebration.

McCartney, however, had one suggestion of his own for how the classic song should be performed.

“I said, you should sing along, and you should sing it to your man,” the Wings frontman told Kimmel, prompting laughter from the audience.

“Seems like reasonable advice!” Kimmel responded.

Released in 1964, “I Want to Hold Your Hand” became The Beatles’ first No. 1 single in the United States. The song also helped spark Beatlemania in America after the group performed it on “The Ed Sullivan Show.”

Page Six previously reported that following Swift and Kelce’s vows, Swift’s mother, Andrea, invited guests into the reception room, where a stage had been prepared for McCartney’s performance.

Stevie Nicks, Swift’s longtime friend and the Fleetwood Mac singer, was also reportedly among the performers at the star-studded celebration, which continued into the early hours of the next day.

McCartney and Swift have maintained a friendship for years and previously appeared together on the cover of Rolling Stone.

In 2024, the “Live and Let Die” singer attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour concerts at Wembley Stadium, just days after celebrating his 82nd birthday.

Swift later attended a McCartney concert at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre earlier this year.

McCartney also offered high praise for Swift during a BBC Radio 2 appearance last May.

“Taylor is very good. She’s very clever,” he told host Vernon Kay.

Reflecting on Swift’s extraordinary success and comparing it with The Beatles’ rise to fame, McCartney said, “You do see the parallel, you know, like, fame and the amount of fame, and the worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had.”

He added, “But I don’t think she needs any advice, to tell you the truth.”
