Paul O’Grady’s radio producer and close friend Malcolm Prince has revealed he saw the star just hours before the sad news of his death at the age of 67 was confirmed. Malcolm, who worked with Paul on BBC Radio 2, recalled their last moments together in a Twitter post.
Malcolm told his 19,000 followers that the Lily Savage star was “so proud” of his latest achievements, speaking of his starring role as Miss Hannigan in 2023’s touring production of Annie and his upcoming Boom Radio show.
He penned: “I’m devastated. Yesterday afternoon I popped round to Paul’s for a good old catch-up.
“Surrounded by his beloved dogs, he was laughing, smiling and full of life.
“He was so proud of Annie, so happy to be back on Boom Radio, and he was looking forward to so many new projects.

He added in a follow-up post showing the pair smiling for the camera together: “Our last picture together.
“Farewell Paul, I’ll miss you my friend xxx #PaulOGradyRIP.”
