Jennifer Lopez is among the hardest working celebs in the world. Her work ethic is truly something, and the artist rarely fails at anything she does. Not only did she thrive as an artist, but she was able to duplicate that success in acting. She truly is something special. However, when it comes to meeting the fans, stories have been ‘conflicting’ to put it mildly.

We’ll take a look at what fans had to say, and why there seems to be a belief that J-Lo has a no eye contact rule. Although Lopez gets a lot of heat for her apparent ‘diva’ behavior, we’ll also feature a story that shows a different side of Lopez, and how she does make time for fans.
Restaurant Workers And Flight Attendants Didn’t Have The Most Positive Experiences With Jennifer Lopez
Serving Jennifer Lopez is not an easy experience. That has been evident with multiple stories coming out, whether it be J-Lo sending a list of demands to a certain hotel, or the artist simply going for dinner somewhere. According to stories, not only was J-Lo uninterested with the server, but she’s not the best tipper either.
A TikTok user wrote, “Ben’s a great tipper, he respects service workers, and so he tipped a lot of people a lot of money that night,” she claimed. “Jennifer goes around to each of those people, and takes back the tip, and gives them maybe $5, $10 bucks—maybe.”
Another person would share a story on how they were completely snubbed by Lopez on a flight just by asking her what she wanted to drink. According to the flight attendant, Lopez ordered through her assistant, and refused to make eye contact.
“I just said, ‘What can I get you to drink?’ But Jennifer refused to even acknowledge me. She turned her head away and told her personal assistant, ‘Please tell him I’d like a diet coke and like.’ She wouldn’t even look at me. It was sad, she seems so sweet in her movies.”
It seems like this was just one of the many times Lopez didn’t even make eye contact with a fan or worker.
Multiple Examples Suggest Jennifer Lopez Does Not Like When She Is Being Looked At Outside A Performance
The thread on Quora made the suggestion that J-Lo simply hates to make eye contact with workers or fans, and there was some evidence to back it up.
The user wrote in their argument, “Jennifer has an extreme thing about people looking at her other than when she’s onstage. Then everyone has to look at her. Otherwise, if small unimportant people look at her, and God forbid, open their little unimportant mouths to speak to Her Holiness, she does whatever she can to retaliate. If they’re servers or anyone she can get fired, she gets them fired.”
The thread featured examples including a person who mentions that a friend worked with her on a film set. It was said that the person was told to bring over her food, and not make eye contact. As expected when the person brought the food, Lopez didn’t make any eye contact and completely avoided contact.

Another story suggests that a worker was specifically told not to make any eye contact at Lopez’s birthday, or else they would’ve been out of a job… Granted, these stories do sound harsh and hard to believe, but they are certainly consistent over the years, leading fans to believe there must be at least some truth to it.
Not All Jennifer Lopez Fan Stories Are Completely Bad
Jennifer Lopez does indeed have positive experiences with fans. Back in 2012 during her first world tour, Lopez specifically left the stage to embrace a fan holding up a certain sign. Lopez got emotional over the moment, realizing the impact she has on others.
“I remember this woman holding up this sign,” Lopez said, tearing up. “She said, ‘I’ve been waiting 14 years to tell you that you helped me be the woman that I am today.'”
“It was so sweet,” she continued. “You don’t realize [that] your music is touching people. You think you’re just doing this thing. We do this thing, and you don’t realize that until you tour the world and people come up to you. I would do the meet-and-greets and they would…show me tattoos of my name on their back. And I was like, ‘what’s happening here? It was just amazing to see it. So that was a very memorable sign. I’ll always think about that,” she added.
Believe it or not, the fan from 2012 saw the moment, and commented on what had taken place from their side of things.
“I can’t believe that @jlo is still talking about that moment in Oct. 11th 2012 when she read my sign during her concert and literally jumped down the stage just to hug me,” the fan wrote.
“It might seem stupid to most, but you really can’t understand what this meant, and still means, to that little girl dancing alone to her songs in her room to know that her role model knows how much impact she had into her life, and I’m glad at this point that such a small thing as holding a sign has left the same tangible emotions into her 10 years later,” she continued.
So for those wondering, yes J-Lo does make time for fans and treats them with respect. It just seems like she prefers when it is done in an organized manner during a meet and greet.
