Pete Wicks issued a brutal dig at his ex Maura Higgins following her controversial kiss with married Danny Jones at the BRIT Awards afterparty. According to reports, the former reality stars agreed to part ways and decided they were “better off as friends” after a series of fiery arguments.
Strictly star Pete seemingly took a swipe at his ex during the latest episode of his Staying Relevant podcast. This comes after Maura and Danny, who became friends on the recent series of I’m A Celebrity, were filmed appearing to share “a drunken kiss” at Universal Music’s BRIT Awards afterparty. During a fan Q&A, the Towie star savagely told his best friend and co-star Sam Thompson that he would “banish Love Island from the world,” to which Sam laughed and replied: “That’s so aggressive.”
Pete continued: “It takes over everything, that’s all anyone talks about for f***ing three months of the year.
“It’s very difficult to have small talk with people when that’s their reference because I don’t know anything about it.”
Sam admitted: “Let’s be honest, I can’t imagine you hanging out with people who say, “When’s the nearest episode of Love Island?’”
Pete responded: “No but even when I walk through the office… just no.” Maura rose to fame on the fifth series of the ITV dating show in 2019 and reached the final with TV star Curtis Pritchard.
Meanwhile Sam’s ex, Zara McDermott, also appeared on the show in 2018 before featuring on The X Factor: Celebrity and Made in Chelsea.
During the BRIT Awards ceremony, Pete and Maura narrowly avoided each other despite sitting just a few feet away from one another.
According to a source, he even left an afterparty early as a source told The Mirror: “Pete and Maura were both at the afterparty but were very separate. Pete was there fleetingly at the beginning, but Maura was there until the end at 2am-ish.”
