Rapper Playboi Carti is facing a misdemeanor assault charge following an incident earlier this month involving his girlfriend and a limousine driver.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on October 2 in Park City, Utah. The limousine driver, identified as Carl Reynolds, reported that the confrontation began as he was transporting Carti and his girlfriend from their hotel to a rehearsal venue, as stated in a TMZ report.
Reynolds alleged that Carti, whose real name is Jordan Terrell Carter, initiated a dispute with his girlfriend during the ride, which led him to step in.
Amid the escalating tensions, Reynolds claimed that he was struck, prompting him to pull over in Heber City for safety.
Additionally, Reynolds mentioned that Carti’s security team intervened to help defuse the situation.
In his report to police, he said another driver who was also employed by the same ALC A Limousine Connection that Reynolds works for, witnessed the interaction.
Wasatch County police eventually responded to the incident and recorded Reynolds’ injuries.
Reps for Carti and Park City Police Department did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
The recent arrest is only the latest in a string of the rapper’s run-ins with police.
He previously faced charges for domestic battery in 2017 and was fined $900 in 2019 for assaulting his tour bus driver in Scotland, according to several news outlets.
He was arrested once again in Georgia in 2020 after police discovered drugs and firearms in his Lamborghini.
At the time, cops claimed Carti was in possession of 12 bags of marijuana, 3 guns, Xanax, codeine and oxycodone. He was later released on bond the next day.
In late 2022, he was arrested for felony aggravated assault after he allegedly choked his pregnant girlfriend during an argument over a paternity test.
