Pregnant Shaughna Phillips plans to marry her secret boyfriend

She announced that she is expecting her first child last week.

And Shaughna Phillips has revealed she is planning to marry her secret boyfriend now she carrying his baby.

But the pregnant Love Island star, 28, added that she would be happy with a registry office and ring from Argos to keep things cheap.

She also divulged that her and her private partner have known each other since their teen years, but their relationship only turned romantic after the end of lockdown.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Shaughna said: ‘I actually said to him the other day, “I’m so glad that you have to marry me now that we’re having a baby.” But yeah, definitely. I feel like a baby is way more of a commitment, though.

‘I always used to think, “We need to get married,” but now we’ve bought a house and we know how much stuff costs, I’m like, “Take me to the registry office and get me a ring from Argos!”‘

The star, who has not revealed her boyfriend’s identity, has been with the businessman since 2020.

Speaking on her beau, she said: ‘I’ve known him for years. We knew each other teenagers and we were in the same circles. But we’ve both had partners and it’s never really been the right time. 

‘We were friends beforehand and then we got together romantically around summer 2020. It was around the time things started to open again after lockdown and we could mingle. And then we went back into multiple lockdowns and he moved into my flat. So we kind o fast-tracked.’

Elsewhere in the chat, Shaughna opened about about her pregnancy journey so far, admitting that while she is ‘feeling a little chunky’, the sickness and first trimester symptoms haven’t been so bad.

Sharing that she already has a baby name in mind, with a sweet reasoning behind it, she admitted that she will name the baby after both her boyfriend and her dad.

Shaughna explained that she has been experiencing slight sickness and even ‘carries a sick bag’ just in case – but otherwise hasn’t been too run down with pregnancy symptoms.

And revealing that she already has baby names in mind, Phillips plans to sweetly pay tribute to her late father Eddie, who passed away from cancer in 2016.

She told the publication: ‘I have two names. If it’s a boy, I’m going to name him after his dad. I’m also going to give him my dad’s middle name, which is Edward, but people called him Eddie. 

‘And I have my name for a girl – I’m keeping it a secret because I don’t want anyone to steal it!’ she continued – after admitting she’s hoping for a baby girl.

And discussing the changes to her body since falling pregnant, she explained: ‘I’m feeling a bit chunky. But other than that, I’m OK. I’ve found the pregnancy pretty easy so far. I haven’t had that much sickness.’ 

Earlier this week, Shaughna confessed she has ‘absolutely no idea what she’s doing’ during her pregnancy, hours after announcing she’s expecting her first child.

And sharing details of her boyfriend, Shaughna revealed that the pair have known each other for years’, before taking things romantic in 2020. 

Taking to Instagram Stories, the Love Island star admitted she struggled to keep her news a secret before her announcement on Wednesday, and she can’t wait to discuss her pregnancy with her followers.

It comes after Shaughna shared the exciting news that she was expecting her first child with her secret boyfriend of six months, just days after appearing to faint at the National Television Awards.

‘I’ve just been MIA, I feel like I can’t lie and I just have it written across my forehead, so I basically had to go missing.

‘But I’m back now, I just can’t wait to talk to you about it, it’s been the biggest thing in the world. Back with a bang, or a baby!

Shaughna, who featured on Love Island’s winter spin-off in 2020, shared the news of her pregnancy with her Instagram followers on Wednesday evening, posting a short video ultrasound of the growing foetus following a check-up.

She also shared a brief clip of her positive pregnancy test, shortly after discovering she was carrying a first child with her boyfriend, whose identity has not been disclosed. 

She explained: ‘If anyone saw my ‘exit’ from the NTAs. I wasn’t drunk, I nearly fainted.

‘I don’t know what happened to me I just had this absolute dodgy turn and had to take my shoes off and be helped out by my manager and now I’m in bed.

‘Just in case anyone did see and thought “f***ing hell she’s seen better days” – correct – but I weren’t drunk.’ [sic] 

A source told The Sun: ‘Shaughna said she was feeling unwell and then fainted. It was really worrying for everyone with her.

‘She was taken care of and then she was sent back to her hotel. Shaughna was pretty upset by it all. It was a horrible thing to happen.’

In April, Shaugna confirmed that she is dating a new mystery man and is glad he wants to stay out of the public eye.

The reality personality said it would be ‘weird’ if he wanted the attention she gets, but admitted he’s fitted in perfectly at home with her two French Bulldogs Biggie and Bunnie.

When asked if her new boyfriend was famous, Shaughna continued: ‘No, no, no… I used to say [to my dates], ‘I’d like to keep my relationship private, if that’s ok with you?’ 

‘And if they said, “oh no, why would you keep my private?” I’m like, red flag. But this guy was like, “I don’t ever want to be in the public eye anyway,” and I was like, I like that answer.

However, their brief relationship ended after Callum brought Molly Smith back from a stay in Casa Amor.

She was later dumped from the villa when Luke Mabbott couple-up with Demi Jones instead of her.
