King Charles has reportedly extended a warm invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, offering them a place to stay during their next visit to the UK.
The couple, known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have not traveled together to the UK for several years. While Harry, now 41, has made several trips back home, Meghan, 44, has not returned since attending the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022.
Their absence is largely due to stepping down as senior members of the Royal family in 2020. Since then, they have been at the center of a public feud with the Royal family, a situation that intensified with claims about Meghan’s alleged influence on Harry’s distancing from his relatives. Meanwhile, Prince Andrew is reportedly facing eviction from his former residence, the Royal Lodge, within weeks.
Despite past tensions, there are signs of reconciliation, as insiders indicate that King Charles has invited Harry and Meghan to stay at a Royal property if they visit the UK in the coming months.
Speculation suggests that the 77-year-old monarch has offered them accommodation at Highgrove House, a secluded country home in Gloucestershire, during their stay.
Speculation is rife that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may return to the UK together for an Invictus Games event in Birmingham this July.
The event will mark a one-year countdown to the games, a cause close to Harry’s heart, designed to support injured soldiers and veterans.
“There’s a good chance that they will stay at a royal residence during a U.K. stay that includes Invictus events if the current thaw in family relations continues,” a source revealed to the Daily Mail.
The Express US has sought comment from representatives of King Charles.
Amidst speculation that Meghan may accompany her husband to the UK, Harry’s spokesperson has stepped forward to clarify matters.
Addressing the rumours of Meghan’s imminent return to the UK, the spokesperson dismissed them as “pure speculation.”
Royal commentator Tom Sykes shared in a Substack post: “I reported late last night that the Duchess of Sussex was planning a return to the United Kingdom as soon as this summer.”
Sykes also cited a source who speculated about Meghan’s potential return: “I think she would come back with him and the children. They love to do stuff as a family whenever they can, and when they do things philanthropically, they often take the kids along privately. I can’t see a reason why he’d come over with the kids without her.”
He added: “A spokesperson for Prince Harry told me the report was ‘pure speculation.’”
