Prince Harry jokes about ‘challenging’ siblings as hope for William reconciliation is squashed

Prince Harry’s got jokes.

The Duke of Sussex reportedly made a dig about difficult siblings — amid his strained relationship with his own brother, Prince William — while attending a reception in the UK on Monday.

According to Hello! magazine, 17-year-old WellChild Award winner Declan Bitmead was speaking with Prince Harry ahead of the 2025 WellChild Awards.

When Bitmead told the royal that he has a younger brother, the “Spare” author responded, “Doeshe drive you mad?”

When Bitmead said that they got along fine, Harry cracked, “You know what, siblings.”

After later learning that Bitmead and his brother attend the same school, the father of two commented, “That sometimes makes it more challenging.”

Prince Harry has been a patron of WellChild, England’s national charity that provides support for seriously ill children, since 2007. In his 2023 memoir, “Spare,” Harry alleged that Will wanted him to act like he didn’t know him when they both attended Eton College, a private, boys-only boarding school.

He later told Anderson Cooper in an interview for ’60 Minutes” that it hurt him.

“I couldn’t make sense of it,” Harry recalled. “I was like, ‘What do you mean? We’re now at the same school. Like, I haven’t seen you for ages; now we get to hang out together.’”

“He’s like, ‘No, no, no, when we’re at school, we don’t know each other,’” he continued. “And I took that personally.”

The brothers have been estranged for years, and recent hopes for a reconciliation were squashed on Monday.

Kensington Palace announced that Will, 43, will be booked with royal engagements on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week — the days Harry will be in town — according to British outlet GN News.

Harry traveled back to his home country to attend the WellChild Awards and is scheduled to visit the Community Recording Studio in Nottingham on Tuesday.

There, Harry, 40, is set to announce a substantial donation to Children in Need to support their work against violence against young people.

Although Harry took the trip solo — without his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children: Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4 — a friend of Harry told the Sunday Times earlier this month that Harry has “not given up hope on bringing his family back to the UK.”

“He wants to be able to show his children where he grew up,” the friend said. “He wants them to know their family here. He really would like to come back to the UK much more.”
