Once again, Prince Harry finds himself back in the courtroom. The Channel 4 documentary, “The Prince vs the Paper: Dispatches,” airing Thursday night, delves deeper into Harry’s ongoing battle against the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, whom he accuses of phone hacking and surveillance. This is merely the latest chapter in a lengthy saga of legal battles Harry has been embroiled in over the years.
Back in May, Harry faced a setback when he lost a case seeking to reinstate his police protection during visits to the UK. Despite expressing concerns to the BBC about the safety of bringing his family back without security, the Home Office is now reconsidering whether he should be granted full police protection, even though he no longer serves as a working royal. Meanwhile, both Harry and Meghan have been vocal in responding to media stories, including those about Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, being hospitalized and allegations regarding a dress from her Netflix series.
One might wonder, isn’t Harry exhausted from all this?
Since stepping away from royal duties in 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been at the center of numerous controversies. Despite their initial intentions for a “private life,” they have found it challenging to step away from the public eye.
The upcoming Channel 4 documentary will shed light on Harry’s latest legal battle, yet there’s more at stake than just media scrutiny. Alongside six other prominent individuals, Harry has been cautioned about the substantial financial risks involved in this £38 million privacy lawsuit. Should he lose, he might be personally responsible for millions in legal fees.
But something tells me that it won’t stop him. Let’s face it, Harry has never shied away from a fight, whether it’s in the courtroom or with his family, and it could be his undoing. He’s been so stubborn that he’s now found himself in an ongoing court case, taking up his time, money and energy, and, honestly, probably a bit of his dignity at this point too. Do we not think his family are rolling their eyes every time they find out Harry is involved in another court case or issuing an angry statement? I would be. He seems to be so desperate to be the loudest voice in the room all the time, at least they know they’re not the problem.
It has been unprecedented for a royal to take legal action so many times, but then again, it’s unprecedented that a working royal would up and leave his life for an alleged quiet one in the US. Every time he issues a statement, he muddies his name further, and I think it seems unlikely that he could ever reconcile with his family with his name constantly in the press for all the wrong reasons. They surely know that not only would it now be damaging for their own reputation to reunite, but they will never know when he will next want to start a new battle.
This battle with the Mail is surely likely to cost him a load of money, alienate him even further from his family and if all that happens, then Hollywood won’t want him either. Everyone can accept a little bit of scandal and drama, but nobody wants a constant stream of it, and that sadly is what Meghan and Harry are. Unless Harry is finally ready to put his anger to the side and accept a quiet life, he truly is putting everything good in his life on the line.
For me, this honestly feels like a pipe dream that I’m so ready to put to bed. I’d honestly welcome Harry and Meghan back into the UK with open arms, but until he learns not to be the victim, it is not going to happen.
