On Christmas Day, Princess Charlotte stepped out with her family for their traditional holiday stroll in Sandringham. Accompanied by her parents, Prince William and Princess Catherine, as well as her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, the young royal took part in the festive family outing.
The 10-year-old princess was seen leaving the Saint Mary Magdalene Church on the royal Norfolk estate, elegantly dressed in a new coat that sparked a sense of nostalgia among royal enthusiasts.
Dedicated followers of the royal family quickly noted the striking resemblance between Charlotte’s coat and a brown-and-tan design by Catherine Walker that her mother, Kate Middleton, wore during her first official royal engagement over a decade ago.
Such similarities in royal fashion are rarely coincidental. Princess Charlotte’s custom-made coat, also crafted by Catherine Walker, featured a chocolate brown velvet collar, perfectly complementing the coat’s pockets, collar, and cuffs, echoing her mother’s timeless style.
Princess Charlotte’s bespoke dress coat was also made by Catherine Walker and featured a chocolate brown velvet collar to match the style’s pockets, collar and cuff.
Middleton, 43, wore her version of the outerwear for a February 2011 visit to Trearddur Bay Lifeboat Station on the island of Anglesey, Wales, just a few months after she and Prince William got engaged.
This holiday season has been full of fun, festive fashion moments for both Princess Catherine and Princess Charlotte.
Earlier this month, the duo was spotted twinning in half-up hairstyles with matching bows for King Charles’ Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace. The royal family also coordinated in navy blue and evergreen looks for the “Together At Christmas” carol service at Westminster Abbey on Dec. 5.
At the same event, the mother and daughter delighted guests with a piano duet, playing “Holm Sound” by Erland Cooper. A clip was recently shared on social media, spreading even more joy around the world this holiday season.
While the Princess of Wales didn’t re-wear her Catherine Walker dress coat to match her daughter for this event, she chose an equally symbolic piece of outerwear to commemorate the occasion.
For this year’s Sandringham walkabout, Kate Middleton wore her brown tartan Blazé Milano coat, the same piece she wore during her first public engagement of the year.
On Jan. 14, Middleton surprised the public with a visit to Royal Marsden Hospital — where she received cancer treatment last year — and announced she was in remission.
Here’s hoping 2026 is even more merry and bright for the royal family.
