REPORT: RHONJ Producers Are "Having a Hard Time" Nailing Down a Season 15 Cast, Searching for Diversity After Test Filming Fails and a Potential Recast Looms

The cast of The Real Housewives of New Jersey for season 15 remains undecided.

Following the conclusion of season 14, which left a significant rift among the women—some loyal to Teresa Giudice, 53, and others backing Melissa Gorga, 46—the producers are facing challenges in assembling the right group of housewives. A new third-party team has been brought on board to help interview potential new members.

“The previous producers struggled to find the perfect fit for the cast,” an insider revealed to Us Weekly on January 13. “The new faces they tested last August didn’t meet expectations.”

The casting team is now on the lookout for a diverse ensemble of women representing various regions of the Garden State.

“They are going full speed ahead with casting over the next month and a half,” the source shared. “The current cast could have answers if they’re coming back to the show in the next couple of months.”

As RHONJ fans will recall, Jackie Goldschneider, 49, and Jennifer Aydin, 48, who announced her exit from the series in October, sided with Teresa amid season 14, and Margaret Josephs, 58, Danielle Cabral, 40, and Rachel Fuda, 34, remained loyal to Melissa. Meanwhile, Dolores Catania, 54, who will be featured as a “friend” on the debut season of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island, and Jennifer Fessler, 55, did their best to stay in the middle.

As for who could possibly return, that’s apparently up in the air for everyone.

“None of the current cast members know yet if they are coming back [for season 15],” the insider continued. “Producers could recast the whole show.”

Following reports of test filming between Melissa, Margaret, Dolores, and potential newbies in August 2025, Teresa reconciled with Melissa and her brother, Joe Gorga, 51, and ultimately celebrated Christmas together.

While there have been rumors swirling in regard to a potential cancellation of the series, Andy Cohen, 57, confirmed last June on The View that that was not the case.

“It was really on a deep pause, and we are actively there casting and looking at the future of what that will be,” he said. “It’s a great franchise, and we love it. I just have to reiterate that.”
