BBC Breakfast welcomed four of the finalists from Race Across the World on Friday morning (13 June), as they discussed their time on the much-loved show.

Melvyn and Brian were joined by Sioned and Fin on the red sofa, where they were all interviewed by Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt.

Melvyn and Brian, who came in fourth place on the BBC series, spoke about how travelling together has strengthened their bond as they now “understand” each other better.

The two brothers also shared their favourite moments from Race Across the World, with Melvyn pointing out a yoga class as one of his highlights.

Meanwhile, Brian said a challenge which saw him and Melvyn shovel buffalo excrement to earn money was one of his highlights of the trip.

TV viewers shared their shock when the scenes aired, especially as the brothers were seen picking up the buffalo feces with their hands.

“Buffalo poo to me was probably one of my highlights,” Brian admitted. “Having to move the buffalo poo. That was genuine!”

He added: “A lot of people think that was set up, it wasn’t. It’s what they do with their hands, they go into the buffalo pen and they pick up the poo and chuck it in a pile.”

Race Across the World drew to a close with the final episode airing on Wednesday (11 June), which saw Caroline and Tom crowned the winners of the hit show.

Sisters Elizabeth and Letitia came in second place, with Sioned and Fion following in third, along with Brian and Melvyn in fourth place.

Brian and Melvyn had been fan favourites throughout the show, and having won three legs, they were in a strong position to win the competition.

However, the brothers were unable to close the gap between them and their fellow competitors in the last leg, leading them to wind up in fourth place overall.

BBC Breakfast airs on BBC One at 6am on weekdays.

Race Across The World is available to watch on BBC iPlayer. Race Across the World: The Reunion will air on Wednesday, 18 June at 9pm on BBC One.
