After a flourishing stint on the screen, Meghan Markle stepped away from her acting career in 2017 following her engagement to Prince Harry, ready to embrace her role in the royal family. Yet, in an unexpected twist, the former Suits actress found herself becoming the focal point of Hollywood narratives as her background, romance, and life inspired various films and even an animated series. Hailing from California, she began her journey in entertainment with minor roles on shows like General Hospital, The War at Home, and CSI: NY.
Her pivotal moment arrived when she secured a significant role in Netflix’s popular legal series, Suits, portraying paralegal Rachel Zane. Global attention, however, surged when her relationship with Prince Harry became public in 2016. Following the birth of their son Prince Archie in 2019 and their decision to step back from royal duties in 2020, the Duchess of Sussex expressed her definitive stance on returning to acting: “I’m done,” she stated, though she did leave a door slightly ajar with, “I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely no.” Despite her departure, her life story was immortalized on film with Lifetime’s 2021 release of the Harry and Meghan movie.

Reflecting on her portrayal in the media, Meghan shared with Variety, “I haven’t given that much thought, to be honest. It’s all weird.”
She continued, “You have to compartmentalize. Anyone discussing or casting someone to portray me is creating a caricature that’s designed to fuel a business that generates significant profits.”
“Once you can separate that out, it’s much easier to say, ‘OK. That actually has nothing to do with me.’ It genuinely doesn’t. It’s a challenging lesson to come to terms with.”
However, the Duchess offered advice and shared: “I hope that in preparing for that role, she finds the softness and the playfulness and the laughter, the silliness. I just hope she finds the dimensions. Also, she can call me!”
