Reba McEntire and Rex Linn Navigating Wedding Planning Delays: Invitation Printing on Hold

Reba McEntire and her longtime partner, Rex Linn, are not in a hurry to walk down the aisle. Despite being engaged for nearly two years, fans are left wondering when the couple will finally say “I do.” McEntire recently shared that wedding preparations have not progressed much, with no date set for the big day. “We’re just waiting for an available moment to host the wedding,” she revealed to E! News on August 10. It seems they also haven’t finalized their guest list yet. She humorously added, “Get it planned. Print those invitations.”

Though the ceremony isn’t imminent, McEntire and Linn are thriving as a couple. Rex Linn even plays the role of McEntire’s love interest on “Happy’s Place,” ensuring they spend plenty of time together. “We love each other, but we like each other. We have fun,” McEntire added, highlighting the strength of their relationship.

Aside from the lengthy engagement, other factors have fueled speculation regarding their wedding. McEntire and Linn share a long history, having met decades before they started dating in 2020, and they went public with their engagement in September 2025. However, the proposal actually happened in December 2024, showing no rush to wed following the engagement. Linn admitted to Extra in April that enjoying their engagement suits them well, noting, “Marriage isn’t high on my list right now.”

Rex Linn puts his career first

Their shared commitment to their show “Happy’s Place” has also led to wedding delays. “We’re still waiting on a third season pickup from ‘Happy’s Place,'” McEntire explained to E! News in February regarding their stalled wedding plans. Interestingly, McEntire and Linn are comfortable placing their careers ahead of personal milestones. “He says, ‘Work comes first,'” added McEntire.

Even a few months later, McEntire echoed similar reasons for the nuptial delay, attributing the postponement to Linn’s professional commitments. “[The date is] kind of being pushed every time Rex gets a job,” she mentioned to Extra in May at a red carpet event with her fiancé. Although they’ve been together for six years, with nearly two years of engagement, they’re not concerned about the timeline. “Heck, we might be engaged 30 years before we get married, but we’re okay with that, too,” McEntire quipped, content with their leisurely approach.

The couple may appear to be stalling their wedding, but they have started outlining how they want their big day to look. Both McEntire and Linn want the ceremony to be infused with country-living flair. “We’ve got a great ranch in Tennessee. We’re going to have all of our animals there,” the “Cliffhanger” actor told Extra at an event in April. There may have been a consensus on the theme, but the pair had yet to make basic wedding-planning decisions. “I don’t think it’ll be too big. We might have a small wedding, and then possibly have a big party,” Linn added.
