Tallulah Willis is reflecting on her eating disorder recovery.

In a Saturday, March 15, Instagram Story Q&A, Willis answered a fan, who asked, “Any tips for anyone in recovery for ED?” Willis, 31, uploaded a throwback photo of her side profile, with her hair pulled up in a clip.

“I found this pic from a few years ago and was stopped in my tracks I didn’t remember how bald I was getting. Heartbreaking,” she wrote. “Now I have a meaty chunky bun!!! And I’m proud of it.”

She continued, “It’s so cool not being tired all the time. Keep going. Nourish your thinned hair 🙁 and dry skin. It’s the only body you have.”

Willis has been open through the years about her experience with disordered eating. In May 2023, she got candid in a personal essay for Vogue and shared that she has suffered from anorexia nervosa for four years.

“By the spring of 2022, I weighed about 84 pounds,” she wrote. “I was always freezing. I was calling mobile IV teams to come to my house, and I couldn’t walk in my Los Angeles neighborhood because I was afraid of not having a place to sit down and catch my breath.”

Willis revealed that she was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) when she was 25 and began taking medication, which had an “appetite-suppressant side effect.”

“There’s an unhealthy deliciousness at the beginning of losing weight rapidly,” she said. “People are like, ‘Oh, wow!’ And then quickly it turns to, ‘Are you OK?’ My friends and family were terrified, and I dismissed it.”

Months after her essay, Willis penned a message for those suffering from an eating disorder while sharing several snaps of herself as a child.

“ED recovery babies — sending love to you all, I’m having an intens[e] moment of romanticizing unhealthy times and how it felt to move through the day in that size body,” Willis wrote via Instagram in February 2024. “Just wanted to voice it because I know (hope) I’m not alone.”

She continued, “This little raggymuffin is so special and it’s strange to know that and want to give her abundance and vitality — LIFE! whilst at the EXACT same moment feeling pulled by an old desire, deep down from the pit spot in your belly, to compare to the ‘better’ version of me. AND it’s OK to be in the middle of the messy and not totally have it all sorted yet.”

In the comments section of the post, sister Rumer Willis wrote, “You are magic, your truth is so vital and I’m so lucky to be your sister.” (Tallulah, Rumer, 36, and Scout Willis are the daughters of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. The pair wed in 1987, finalizing their divorce in 2000.)
