Who Is the Main Cast of ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ Season 2?

Dead City takes place several years after the events of the series finale of the franchise’s flagship show and follows fan-favorites Negan Smith, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Maggie Rhee (née Greene), played by Lauren Cohan.

The cast also sees the return of series regulars Logan Kim, who stars as Maggie and Glenn Rhee’s teenage son Hershel Rhee, Mahina Napoleon as Ginny, a young survivor who Negan took under his wing and Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong, a marshal for the New Babylon Federation who had been hot on Negan’s trail throughout much of season 1.

Lisa Emery will appear in the show’s second season as a newly introduced antagonist called The Dama, alongside Negan’s chilling former acquaintance and current leader of the cruel Burazi group The Croat, who is expertly brought to life by actor Željko Ivanek.

Sons of Anarchy alum Kim Coates is also set to make his debut as a faction leader named Bruegel and Orange Is the New Black alum Dascha Polanco will play a new character called Lucia Narvaez.

When Is ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ Season 2 Release Date?

On April 2, 2025, Jeffrey confirmed via X that the first episode of season 2 of the popular spinoff is set to premiere on May 4, 2025.

“Still standing. Definitely still swinging,” he wrote, seemingly in reference to his character Negan’s former weapon of choice – a barbed wire-covered bat he called Lucille. “May 4. Xxxjd.”

What Happened in ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ Season 1?

Maggie and Negan were forced to form a contentious duo in season 1 as they made their way through the walker-ridden streets of post-apocalyptic New York City in search of Hershel, who had been kidnapped by a sinister man who went by the name The Croat and had a shocking connection to Negan’s past.

The roller-coaster season came to a cliffhanger close when Maggie eventually made the decision to trade Negan to The Croat in exchange for her son. Later in the finale, The Dama gives Negan an ominous warning that she will go after Hershel in the future if he doesn’t help her unite groups of survivors in Manhattan as a new leader.

‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ Season 2 Trailer

The first glimpses of season 2 were shown at The Walking Dead: Dead City panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, but a full-length trailer released in March 2025 gave fans a more well-rounded look at what the gritty series has in store this year.

Maggie and Perlie appear to discuss heading back to Manhattan. Meanwhile, Negan seemingly embraces his new rise power with all the bravado and swagger of classic Negan as he debuts an unexpected upgrade to his favorite weapon.

“If you ain’t with us, I guess you’re in for a bit of a shock,” Negan says as a man reaches out to touch his bat covered in barbed wire and is suddenly hit with a burst of electricity.

One moment that sparked mixed reactions on social media was a final shot that showed Maggie glowering as she held the bat herself. Those who watched “Here’s Negan” in TWD season 10 know that the real Lucille was burned and no longer exists. While some fans were excited by the moment, others were irked that the showrunners would choose to have Maggie wield the same type of weapon that Negan used to brutally murder her husband Glenn in front of her in TWD season 7.
