Australian actor Martin Grelis has passed away at the age of 57, leaving behind a legacy that spans over three decades in the entertainment industry. Best known for his role in the iconic sci-fi film The Matrix, Grelis’s death was confirmed by his talent agency, Sophie Jermyn Management. In a heartfelt statement, the agency expressed their sorrow: “Vale Martin. We’re deeply saddened to announce the loss of our dear client. Martin was a radiant presence, bringing light to every room he entered. He was not just a talented actor but also a kind and wonderful soul. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this challenging time. Gone far too soon xx.”

Though his part in The Matrix was modest, Grelis shared the screen with Hollywood heavyweights like Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne. His versatile career also included roles in the 2014 mini-series Schapelle, as well as Australian television hits All Saints and Water Rats.

Grelis’s final acting role reportedly took place earlier this year in the TV series Alpha King. Fans, heartbroken by the news of his passing, have taken to social media to remember and honor him.

One fan commented, “So saddened to hear this. Martin was the most lovely man. Sending condolences and love to all who knew him.”

Another added, “Sorry to hear this news. Sending love.”

A third also echoed: “Such sad news. He was an amazing human being and actor. Sending love and support to his family and all who were lucky enough to know him.” [sic]

A fourth also commented online: “So saddened to hear this. Martin was the most lovely man. Sending condolences and love to all who knew him.”

A fifth also said: “Absolutely devastating, my heart is torn. Martin was the kindest soul, helped me on my film handcrafting and donating his incredible surfboards, always ready to jump in and collaborate, have a laugh, I wondered why my message wasn’t returned yesterday, I’m in shock. My heartfelt condolences to his family, his beautiful son, his friends and agents. A true gentleman and creative, the world is harshly worse off without him.”
