Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has once again found himself in the spotlight, facing criticism for digitally altering a well-known photo that originally depicted a scene on Air Force One with a McDonald’s meal.
In a bid to celebrate Thanksgiving, the Health and Human Services Secretary shared a clearly manipulated image on Thursday, November 27. The altered photo, which he posted on X, was captioned with a simple “Happy Thanksgiving!” and featured Kennedy alongside prominent figures such as President Donald Trump, former adviser Elon Musk, Donald Trump Jr., and current House Speaker Mike Johnson, all aboard Air Force One.
The original photograph, taken in 2024 after the presidential election, captured the group gathered around a table laden with McDonald’s fare. However, in Kennedy’s Thanksgiving edition, the fast food items were humorously replaced with traditional holiday staples like turkey, Brussels sprouts, corn, mashed potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie.
Amidst this controversy, another Kennedy family member, Katherine Schwarzenegger, has shown her support for her cousin Tatiana Schlossberg. Schwarzenegger expressed her solidarity on Instagram on Sunday, November 23, after Schlossberg, the granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy, publicly shared her terminal cancer diagnosis. The post included screenshots of an essay written by Schlossberg for The New Yorker, published the previous day, where she candidly discussed her condition.
Some online were quick to criticize the secretary for sharing a clearly altered image, referring to his highly criticized public health claims, including the long-debunked assertion that vaccines are somehow linked to autism.
“As fake as your medical knowledge,” one individual wrote via X.
“Try a real picture next time, not one generated with software,” another wrote on the platform. “This makes it easy to understand why people question what is real. Who can y trust?”
“So bizarre… Why do you live a life?” yet another wrote.

The doctored image and online criticism come days after RFK Jr.’s cousin, Tatiana Schlossberg, revealed she has been diagnosed with a terminal form of cancer and, at just 35 years old, has been given one year to live.
“I did not — could not – believe that they were talking about me,” she wrote in an essay for The New Yorker published on November 23. “I had swum a mile in the pool the day before, nine months pregnant. I wasn’t sick. I didn’t feel sick. I was actually one of the healthiest people I knew. I had a son whom I loved more than anything and a newborn I needed to take care of.”
The mom of two — who shares a 3-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter with her husband, George Moran — also criticized her cousin for his anti-vaccination claims, arguing that his vaccine conspiracy theories and public policy are harming people like her — and while she was in the hospital seeking cancer treatment.
“In August 2024, he suspended his campaign and endorsed Donald Trump, who said that he was going to ‘let Bobby go wild’ on health,” Schlossberg wrote of her cousin. “My mother wrote a letter to the Senate, to try and stop his confirmation; my brother had been speaking out against his lies for months. I watched from my hospital bed as Bobby, in the face of logic and common sense, was confirmed for the position, despite never having worked in medicine, public health, or the government.”
The author then recalled feeling like the entire health scare system was “strained [and] shaky” at the exact moment she was reliant on round-the-clock care.
RFK Jr. has yet to publicly comment on his cousin’s terminal diagnosis or criticisms.
