Teddi Mellencamp is getting candid. The mother of three took to Instagram to post a photo with her back facing the camera. There were a few visible pink scars on her back, in addition to a bandaid. In the caption, she told fans that the post served as a “Melanoma awareness update” before she gave further information on her health. “Despite my anxiety, I listened to the doctors and went in for my 3-month skin check last week since my previous melanoma,” she began, explaining doctors found “another abnormal spot” close to her last spot and they called her to let her know that it’s Stage 2 melanoma.

The reality star continued, stating that she will head to the doctor next week to get the spot removed and come up with a plan before urging fans to listen to health advice. “Moral of this story: if a doctor says, ‘come in every 3 months’ please go in every 3 months,” she wrote. “I so badly wanted to blow this off. ‘What could happen in 3 months?’ I thought. Apparently a lot.” She also revealed that she never wore sunscreen in her teens and didn’t get her moles checked regularly.

Several fans and friends commented on the post to wish her well, including “RHOC” star Tamra Judge. “Im so sorry friend,” she wrote. “I’ve been there and it’s not fun. Im sorry you’re going through this and happy you’re bringing awareness. You got this!!!!!”
