RHOC Season 20 Faces Challenges with Tamra Judge’s Reserved Performance Following Season 19 Criticisms

EXCLUSIVE: 'RHOC' Season 20 is Lacking Due to Tamra Judge Holding Back After Cast Complained About Her During Season 19

On The Real Housewives of Orange County, Tamra Judge has consistently stood out as the cast member known for stirring the pot.

Even though her approach often divides fans, Tamra’s knack for fueling conversations and fearlessly voicing her opinions has been a hallmark of the show since its inception.

However, during the 20th season, which is currently airing, the 58-year-old reality star seems to have toned down her usual fiery persona, a change that hasn’t escaped the attention of her fellow cast members.

During last night’s episode, Gina Kirschenheiter told Tamra she’s “such a different person this year” in terms of her behavior and communication.

Tamra agreed with her, noting she’s learned to let things go, avoid getting triggered by things that aren’t important, and is appreciative of her friendships.

Gina’s comments are a marked change of pace from last season when the cast voiced complaints about Tamra’s behavior, walking off during filming, and allegedly quitting the show multiple times.

In fact, during the cast trip to New Orleans, it was Gina who confronted Tamra over her behavior.

While the new Tamra is on full display this season, some fans have also been vocal online that they’re finding the season overall dull. This is likely due to the lack of a lot of drama on it.

Reality Blurb spoke to multiple insiders who all pointed to what is lacking on the show.

“Tamra is absolutely holding back this season after the cast came at her so hard last year,” one insider noted.

“This is having a negative impact on the show, because, whether you love her or not, she is the show,” a second source shared. “Without her being activated and bringing it, it’s proving there is a lack of any serious drama for fans to sink their teeth into. Without that type of drama or conflict, the show just isn’t as interesting and is lacking to reach its full potential.”

To date, seven episodes have aired this season. While last night’s did have some drama between Vicki Gunvalson and newbie Carmella Garcia, it will be interesting to see where things go the rest of the season from a conflict standpoint.

“The cast and fans really should be careful for what they wish for,” the first source added. “Tamra being herself and bringing it is an essential part of what makes this show work. It was boring during the seasons she was off, and now that she’s seemingly holding back a bit, it’s not as good as it could be.”

New episodes of RHOC air weekly on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
