Turning 50 has never looked more fabulous than on the latest installment of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Gina organizes a bingo bash in honor of Emily’s milestone birthday, offering viewers a glimpse into Carmella’s world. Meanwhile, Heather navigates doubts about her trust in Jenn, and Tamra questions the authenticity of her friendship with Heather.
Amidst the celebration, Shannon extends an invitation to Gina and Jenn to join her quest for “balance” through a unique bungee workout. Despite commemorating Emily’s birthday in Paris, Gina realizes Emily missed out on celebrating at home. Seizing the chance, she plots a bingo drag brunch, encouraging all to don their best elderly attire for the fun-filled gathering.
While Shannon steers clear of discussing Tamra, Jenn questions why Heather seems so keen on maintaining a spotless reputation. Shannon emphasizes she never intended for Jenn to convey messages to Heather, striving to avoid a group confrontation. Icy interactions between Tamra and Heather leave Heather suspicious of Jenn’s motives. Although Jenn claims her goal was reconciliation, the attempt backfires, placing her in a precarious position. Tamra values Jenn’s honesty, yet the entanglement with Heather necessitates urgent resolution.
In another scene, Emily and Shane prepare promotional photos for their upcoming podcast, “Til Death Do Us Part.” While Emily cherishes her roots under the Two T’s banner, Gina reveals Tamra’s discontent over Emily’s perceived lack of gratitude. Emily questions why Tamra belittles her profitable endeavor, prompting Shane to suggest extending an olive branch with a thank you card to quell brewing tensions.
Tamra and Heather meet for some drinks and Heather states that she did not like the way her party ended. When Jenn told Tamra that she is not friends with Heather like she thinks she is, Heather feels like she is being baited. However, Heather points out that if she DOES have a problem with Tamra, she tells her.
Heather tells Tamra she has had a lot of outbursts last year, but Tamra feels like Heather can be a bit manipulative. Heather goes on to say that just because you don’t like a person’s behavior, it does not mean you hate them. Heather explains that every person in her life goes in a box and in year’s past, there were probably many things she would not say to Tamra. Heather has since learned to compartmentalize certain aspects of Tamra and admits that she has talked about Tamra in the past. Tamra believes that Heather changes her personality depending on who she is with, but realizes that the other girls will certainly tell her if Heather starts talking about her again.
Shannon invites Carmella (“I don’t even know your last name”) out shopping and then extends an invite to Emily’s upcoming 50th birthday party. They seem to have an easy-going new-found friendship. Carmella opens up about her marriage to an NFL quarterback, but shares that they never officially divorced. Carmella goes on to explain that she was the Play Mate of the year in the early 2000’s and then she worked for WWE.
Vicki comes to hang with Tamra and chat about Heather’s party. Tamra explains that she believes Heather is downplaying their friendship and is more of a people pleaser so others will not talk about her. Tamra feels like Heather loves to reprimand her, especially about her podcast network. Tamra wonders why Emily gave her zero gratitude and it all felt very ungrateful.
Tamra thinks a trip to Havasu would be so fun and Vicki shares that she actually saw her ex, Don, while she was there. When she saw him, she said, “I’m so sorry I divorced you- I didn’t mean to do that,” which was certainly awkward in front of her new boyfriend. However, Vicki has since learned how to treat someone she loves from her past mistakes.
We get a taste of Carmella’s home life. She is a mom to four and tries to teach them the value of a dollar as a self-proclaimed strict parent. Carmella lives with her boyfriend Danny (of about ten years) and is happy that she met someone accepting of her and her children.
Emily feels like she has accomplished a lot of things in her 50 years on this planet. She gets ready for her party as Gina enters the brunch in her “mature era,” aka dressed as an old lady. Tamra is rocking a diaper and Heather looks like Cruella Deville. Heather is not thrilled to see Jenn, as she feels like Jenn is the only person turning things upside down.
When Carmella joins the group, we find out she is also a “bad a*s real estate agent, too.” Carmella opens up her husband had been unfaithful via iPad. They are divorced now, but not legally divorced because she was unwilling to lose her children. Her ex lives in one of their houses with his girlfriend- there is no custody agreement in an effort to show the kids unity.
Emily enters bingo looking fire, while the rest of the group is donning old lady lewks. Gina just wanted Emily to feel hotter than everyone and she was successful. Emily wins a round of bingo and makes a quick birthday speech before everyone gives her aging advice.
Tamra shares that she has thrived more in her 50’s and Heather explains that the thing you have to be more careful about is your own brain- how you talk to yourself defines your decade. Shannon reminds Emily that age is just a number and Carmella explains that it is ok to not be with a man…but doesn’t she have a boyfriend?
Turns out, THIS guy also cheated on her. Although Carmella loves Danny, she struggles getting over what took place, considering she left a marriage with her four children that ended the same way.
Heather takes a moment to point out that she wanted her party to celebrate friendships, but Jenn twisted the words of their conversation. Heather claims she does not have a “global issue” with Tamra and feels like she needs to step back from her friendship with Jenn.
In the spirit of clearing the air, this podcast thing has become an issue. Emily does not want something to become detrimental to her friendship with Tamra and claims she only did business things that were asked of her. Tamra was concerned Emily was being ungrateful and Emily wants respect. She claims that Tamra should thank her because she is making money off of her podcast. After much ado, they apologize to one another. Clearly these women of “a certain age” have learned to move on.
The episode ends with a cake for Emily and Tamra lets her know that she has never looked better. In the words of Emily, “Fifty is not fat!”
