Hailey Glassman opened up about what she described as her “lavender marriage” during season 16 of The Real Housewives of New York City, sparking curiosity about the man she calls her husband.
The 39-year-old RHONY newcomer may still be remembered by many for her former romance with Jon Gosselin, 49, but her present-day relationship has largely stayed private. In a recent interview, however, Hailey offered a rare glimpse into her low-profile spouse and explained why viewers should not expect to see him appear on the Bravo reality series.
Speaking to Bravo Insider on September 7, Hailey said her husband is “a descendant of the first Jewish settlers on Martha’s Vineyard” and noted that he runs “a really big business” on the island.
As for why he didn’t film, she added, “He wasn’t willing to compromise. He didn’t want to ruin his family’s legacy.”
According to Hailey, she and her mystery husband have known one another since they were kids.
“We’ve known each other since he was 12 years old,” Hailey revealed. “We were neighbors in Martha’s Vineyard, and we met at sailing camp.”
Although Hailey wouldn’t reveal when they got married, she did confirm that they split their time between Martha’s Vineyard and New York City.
“We go back and forth and spend the summers out there,” she said. “I just like living on a yacht or in the water and just hanging out and smoking joints. And I’m on the board of charities and play tennis. And my work life, to be honest, has been stressful. I used to look forward to Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Thursdays and Fridays. And now, I don’t. But it’s fun.”

As RHONY fans saw in the trailer, Hailey was questioned about her marriage by Jessel Taank, 46.
“What is a lavender marriage?” Jessel asked.
“I sleep with women intimately as well,” Hailey replied.
While not a lot is known about Hailey, her Bravo bio shared what fans can expect to see.
“Having graced the tabloid covers in the early 2000s, Hailey Glassman is no stranger to the spotlight. With her offbeat humor and unconventional personality, Hailey is an instant hit within the group, but she finds herself struggling to come to terms with her past and find her voice when her friends start questioning the pillars of her identity,” it read.
Hailey’s revelations about her marriage come just days after Andy Cohen, 58, spoke of her addition to the RHONY cast during a September 5 interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“It took a while and we didn’t want to relaunch the show until we got the casting exactly right, and I have to say, with [Carole Radziwill], [Daisy Toye], [Erika Hammond], and Hailey joining the group, we have nailed this casting. The new housewives come out with a bang. They’re so memorable,” he teased. “Daisy, Hailey, and Erika, I mean, the three of them are going for the crown.”
He also added about the upcoming season, “I think one of the reasons people have always loved [RHONY] is how funny it is and how shocking and how absolutely, kind of the drama self-generates. And this season absolutely delivers on all of those parts.”
The Real Housewives of New York City season 16 premieres on Tuesday, September 8, at 8/7c on Bravo.
