ITV’s “Grantchester” sensation Robson Green has opened up about his visits to the Philippines alongside his partner Zoila, a native of the country.

Having faced two divorces prior to their meeting in 2016, Robson, who also leads the third series of “Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes” on BBC this week, divulged to The Times his affection for the joy that Filipino holidays offer—a blend of music, food, and familial bonds.

He reminisced last year: “I always need music and history when I’m on holiday. My partner is from the Philippines, so we go over there a lot, especially to Palawan.”

Additionally, he remarked, “Recently we went to the south to see where the Spanish settled in the 16th century and visited the old camps they set up when they pillaged the area. Weekends for Filipinos are about reconnecting with family and I really like that.”

Continuing on the subject of local festivities, he said, “There might be a music festival or a dance and they’ll roast a pig. Again, the fishermen out there are terrific, so I’ll go out with the locals and watch the sunset as I’m casting a line.”

However, despite relishing life with Zoila, Robson has firmly dismissed the notion of another marriage, asserting to the publication in 2023: “No, I’ve done enough of that. We’re very happy together”. His first marital chapter began with occupational therapist Alison Ogilvie back in 1991, but the union broke down eight years later amidst reports of infidelity.

In 2001, Robson Green tied the knot with ex-Page 3 model Vanya Seager, whom he met at BMG Records in 1995 while recording “Unchained Melody”.

The couple, who welcomed their son Taylor in 2000, parted ways in 2013 due to an irreparable breakdown of their marriage.

Speaking to the Daily Mail about the separation, Robson confessed: “Vanya and I just grew apart. I don’t blame it on the career. It’s just we were different and we didn’t develop together. My mind went in one direction, hers in the other.”

Robson also reflected on his rocky romantic history during a 2016 episode of “Robson and Jim’s Icelandic Fishing Adventure”, admitting that fame made him “lose touch with what matters in life” and acknowledging his “relationships were a car crash”.

His relationship with Zoila Short became public after they met at a gym and fell deeply in love, leading her to leave her husband, Reverend Geoffrey Short, quite abruptly.

Geoffrey shared his heartbreak with The Mirror at the time, saying: “We had a great life together. People thought she was the ideal vicar’s wife, and she was. She loves the boys and everyone said what a fantastic mother she was.”

He recounted the day his life turned upside down: “Then I got home from work one day and all of a sudden everything changed. She announced she was leaving to live with Robson Green. She said they got talking in the gym and she fell in love. She left ­immediately. This all came as a huge shock to me.”
