Ruth Langsford recently became emotional during an interview as she discussed her separation from Eamonn Holmes. Known for co-hosting ITV’s This Morning with Eamonn from 2006 to 2021, Ruth announced their split in 2024 after nearly three decades together. The 60-year-old TV personality shared her heartache over their 14-year marriage coming to an “abrupt end.” While Ruth is currently single, Eamonn has moved on with a new partner, Katie Alexander.
The couple’s relationship began in 1996, culminating in marriage in 2010, and they have a 23-year-old son named Jack. Ruth admitted she was taken by surprise when their marriage ended. Following their split, friends encouraged her to take off her wedding ring as a step towards moving on.
In an emotional conversation with the Daily Mail, Ruth teared up, reflecting, “Although it’s been nearly two years since we announced our separation, it still feels like just a couple of months to me.”
During the interview, Ruth faced the difficult truth about her relationship’s end.
She confided to the outlet, “I had to have a stern talk with myself, as I was spiraling into thoughts like: I’m going to be alone, I don’t have a partner, what am I going to do?”
I was literally asking, ‘What’s going to become of me?’, like some sad, lonely woman in a Jane Austen novel.”
Ruth added, “But then age and experience told me, ‘Ruth, you’re not going to die from this. I mean you are going to die, one day, but you’re not going to die from divorce.’”
The former This Morning host said she and Eamonn had enjoyed a happy marriage so their split came as a “huge shock” even to her.

“I just didn’t think I’d find myself here, and I wasn’t strong at the start. I was broken. Broken heart. Broken dreams,” she remarked.
“We all have an image of how we think our life and future is going to be. This wasn’t mine. I was devastated.”
Ruth’s memoir, Feeling Fabulous, will be released on Thursday as she talks about her own struggles and how she has bounced back through all of life’s ups and downs.
