Outlander’s lead stars Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe have given fans an exciting update about the show on their Instagram accounts, despite season seven having wrapped up, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

The Outlander Collector account tagged the two actors in a post that included a video from season seven, with the caption: “Dive deeper into the world of #Outlander with the Season 7 Collector’s Edition or Season 7 Blu-ray and DVD on May 27th!”.

“Loaded with exclusive bonus features, including four Untold Scenes and more. Pre-Order Now at the link in our bio.”

The video hinted at bonus scenes and deleted material from the thrilling seventh season.

One scene showed Brianna MacKenzie (Sophie Skelton) looking at a book with a photo of her adoptive father Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) on the inside cover.

Another featured Young Ian Murray (John Bell) seemingly praying to god to make him “worthy”, with Claire (Balfe) discovering him at the Fraser’s Ridge church.

A third scene captured a tender moment between Rachel Hunter (Izzy Meikle-Small) and William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart).

While many fans were thrilled about the opportunity to buy the DVD, others took to the comments section to share their thoughts.

One person quipped: “DVD? ? ? ? ? Is this 1990? ? ? ? ? [sic].”

Another fan humorously commented: “hahahahaha we went back to the stones and traveled to the past [sic].”

One individual commented: “right? who has a DVD player anymore nowadays [sic]”, a sentiment echoed by another who said: “That’s it, I don’t even have DVDs anymore” accompanied by a crying with laughter emoji.

However, others defended the use of DVDs. One person retorted: “it costs $20 at most. Or don’t buy it. Must you complain about everything [sic].”

Another chimed in: “Lots of people like to own physical media. No need to worry about a subscription to a specific service to watch your favorite shows or movies.”

They added: “Not to mention platforms losing the rights to certain shows or deciding not to cycle shows in and out over time [sic].”

A different user pointed out: “people who want to watch again and again without worrying about whether they’ve paid for the right streaming platform [sic].”

Outlander can be accessed in a variety of formats, including through subscriptions to various streaming platforms, digital download, and also on DVDs for those who prefer physical media.

Outlander season 7 is available to buy now on Digital and is streaming on MGM+ via Prime Video now
