The 59th Super Bowl kicked off with a bang on Sunday as the  Kansas City Chiefs clashed with the Philadelphia Eagles, vying for glory in a highly anticipated match-up. As the titans of American football sparred on the field, it was Kendrick Lamar’s half-time extravaganza that truly stole the show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

The 37 year old rapper dazzled more than 73,000 fans with a string of hits including his Grammy-winning diss track aimed at Drake. In a thrilling reveal, Lamar included “Not Like Us” in his set, allowing fans to belt out the words “And it’s probably A minor.”

Fans weren’t just talking about Lamar’s lyrical prowess; they were blown away by surprise guest appearances from tennis legend Serena Williams and Hollywood icon Samuel L. Jackson.

Williams took to the turf to strut her impressive dance moves right beside Lamar, while Jackson, draped in the stars and stripes, gave a stirring narration as Uncle Sam during the performance. This star-studded half-time pageantry captivated audiences both in the stadium and at home, with many taking to social media to proclaim that these cameos were the standout moments of the night, reports The Mirror.

One fan expressed their delight, stating: ” Samuel L Jackson was a wonderful surprise, before another fan added: ” while another chimed in: “This is one of my favourite Super Bowl Halftime shows that I have seen yet. I may not be a fan of Kendrick Lamar’s music, but I respect the storytelling talent and seamless flow in his music. The impressive choreography, seeing Samuel L. Jackson as Uncle Sam, and the Diss was top! “

A third echoed these sentiments, adding: “Samuel L. Jackson’s epic Uncle Sam cameo during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show was the surprise we didn’t know we needed! “

A fourth concluded: “Samuel L Jackson as uncle sam was literally the highlight of my night.”

However, not everyone was impressed, with several viewers branding the show the “worst” they had ever seen. One viewer bluntly stated: “That was hands down the worst Super Bowl halftime show I have seen in my lifetime! “

Another agreed, asking: “What’s worse the Chiefs offence or the Halftime show? ,” before a third chimed in: “Worst halftime show ever, not a fan.”

A fourth also complained about sound quality issues, writing on X: “Can’t hear a single word Kendrick is saying. Will this be the worst halftime show ever?.”
