In a startling turn of events, Sarah Michelle Gellar, along with her fellow “Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” cast members, had to evacuate their Paris hotel on Wednesday due to a fire incident.
While promoting their latest film at the Bristol Hotel, Gellar, Elijah Wood, and Kathryn Newton faced an unexpected interruption when a fire ignited in the hotel’s kitchen, as reported by TMZ.
The blaze disrupted the film’s press junket, leading to the evacuation of the entire hotel, which housed 400 guests at the time, according to the source.
A hotel representative assured Entertainment Weekly that all individuals were safely evacuated.
The representative also confirmed that the fire was swiftly contained and extinguished, allowing guests to return safely to their accommodations.
“The hotel, along with all of its outlets, with the exception of 114 Faubourg, has now reopened,” the statement reads.
The film’s stars made no mention of the fire on social media, though Newton, 29, appeared unbothered on Instagram, posting video of her posing in what appears to be the inside of the hotel.
“Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” is the sequel to 2019’s “Ready or Not.” Samara Weaving reprises her role as Grace, and according to the film’s synopsis, she and her sister Faith (played by Newton) must now outrun four rival families competing for a powerful throne.
The horror-comedy film is out March 27.
Gellar, 48, recently mourned the death of her “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” co-star Nicolas Brendon, who died Friday at the age of 54.
Gellar played the iconic main character, Buffy Summers, in the beloved series that ran for seven seasons. Brendon played one of her best friends, Xander Harris.
“‘They’ll never know how tough it is to be the one who isn’t chosen,’” Gellar wrote on Instagram, quoting Brendon’s character. “‘To live so near to the spotlight, and never step in it. But I know. I see more than anybody realizes, because nobody’s watching me.’”
She added, “I saw you Nicky. I know you are at peace, in that big rocking chair in the sky.”
