Savannah Guthrie has reached out to the public for prayers as her mother, Nancy Guthrie, is currently missing.
The “Today” show co-anchor took to Instagram on Monday evening, urging her followers to “please pray” for her mom, who is suspected to have been taken from her Arizona residence while she slept over the weekend.
In a heartfelt message, the journalist expressed, “We believe in prayer. We trust in the power of voices united in love and hope. We have faith in goodness and humanity. Most importantly, we believe in Him.”
She went on to say, “Thank you for joining your prayers with ours for our cherished mom, our dear Nancy, a woman of strong faith, a dedicated and loyal servant.”
“Join your prayers with ours and share our belief that she will be uplifted by them at this very moment,” the 54-year-old NBC host continued. “We need your support.”
She went on to share a Bible verse, reading, “He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” “
Savannah added, “A verse of Isaiah for all time for all of us.”
Savannah concluded, “Bring her home.”
Her social media followers shared their support in the comments, including Savannah’s former co-anchor Hoda Kotb.
“Non stop prayers— love you my girl xo,” Kotb, 61, wrote.
“🙏🙏 all I’ve been doing is praying for your mom, you, and your family. I love you dearly,” meteorologist Dylan Dreyer added.
As for Jenna Bush Hager, she wrote, “Praying, my love. Can’t stop thinking of you and Nancy. ❤️”
Andy Cohen, for his part, commented, “PRAYING. All love and prayers for your family.”
Nancy was last seen on Saturday night when she was taken back to her Tucson home after a family dinner — and she did not show up to church the following morning.
While the 84-year-old is of “sound mind” and “sharp as a tack,” she had physical ailments and is believed to have been “taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night.”
“That includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Monday. “This is an elderly woman in her mid-80s who suffers from ailments… she couldn’t go 50 yards.”
The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that blood was found in Nancy’s residence, which is being treated as a crime scene, as well as signs of forced entry.
In Savannah’s initial statement, the Daytime Emmy winner wrote, “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.
“We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900,” Savannah, who has been absent from the “Today” show and is set to pull out of hosting the Winter Olympics, concluded.
