As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. It has been alleged that The Real Housewives of Atlanta has been the victim of some shocking cast cuts, including Shamea Morton. Shamea has been a longtime friend and guest of the series as Porsha Williams’ childhood best friend. She finally earned her peach for Season 16, but now it doesn’t look so good for Season 17.
Season 16 has been a dramatic one with major additions and cuts throughout the season. Not only did Shamea finally become a Housewife on the main roster, but Kenya Moore was fired, and Phaedra Parks was added mid-season. As chaotic as the season was, the friendship between Shamea and Porsha was one that fans wanted to preserve. However, with Shamea’s alleged firing, it’s now unclear how close the two will remain.
Shamea Morton Isn’t Officially Fired (Yet)
Media Take Out alleges that Shamea Morton has been fired from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. However, Shamea and those at Bravo have yet to make a public statement.
Diehard fans are worried about Shamea’s fate after she removed the show’s title from her social media biography, per Reality Blurb. Her pinned post about becoming a peach holder also disappeared. Media Take Out furthers the rumors when a source told the outlet that if Bravo wanted Porsha Williams back on the series as a full-time Housewife, they’d have to fire Shamea.

Although Porsha and Shamea are longtime best friends, the two went head-to-head in Season 16 over their friendship. Many saw Shamea as Porsha’s “lapdog,” while Porsha wouldn’t reciprocate.
Did Fans Overreact About Shamea’s Alleged Firing?
Shortly after the internet went wild with theories over Shamea’s Instagram account, she shared a tweet to her story from @BingeWorthy that said, “Shamea neva [sic] had #RHOA in her bio… FAKE NEWS.”
Even if Shamea never had the peach in her bio, the former pinned picture is no longer there, which was a milestone in Shamea’s career.
Kenya Moore Weighed In
According to Just Jared, Kenya Moore shared more information about Season 17 during a livestream. For now, Kenya isn’t returning, and it looks like the network is adding two new full-time Housewives to its roster. Kenya didn’t mention if Shamea was remaining on the series, but it doesn’t look good if Bravo is adding more women to the cast, unless the two new additions replace Kenya and Britt.
If Porsha did push Shamea out of the series, she would be proving the group’s point that Shamea cares more about friendship than Porsha does. Shamea has appeared alongside Porsha for years but never held a peach until Season 16. It was rumored that Porsha wanted RHOA to be her “thing” and didn’t want to share the spotlight with Shamea.
Shamea Morton Didn’t Have The Best Season 16 Reunion
If Shamea Morton doesn’t return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s 17th season, it could be because of her bumpy first season as a peach holder. Although she had hilarious confessionals and transparent conversations, she was in the hot seat multiple times during the reunion.
The mother of two sat next to the host, Andy Cohen, as she defended her arguments with some of the women.
- During Part 1, it was alleged that Shamea introduced Porsha Williams to her ex-husband, Simon Guobadia. This was controversial because Simon was a married man when Porsha supposedly first met Simon. The two went back and forth about personal grievances they had with each other.
- Porsha later shared that the new RHOA ladies held an alliance to have each other’s backs during their first season. The alleged alliance was between Kelli, Shamea, and Britt Eady.
- Shamea admitted to having unfinished business with Phaedra Parks. Phaedra was fired from the series years ago after concocting a diabolical rumor involving Porsha, Shamea, and former Housewife Kandi Burruss. Phaedra claimed she had already apologized to Shamea, but it looks like Shamea still harbored resentment.
- Porsha and Shamea’s friendship was still on the rocks during the reunion. Porsha took issue with the fact that Shamea’s alliance with the new girls turned into a smear campaign against Porsha.
- Shamea and Drew threw jabs at one another over their music careers. Fans found it petty that they couldn’t respect one another’s hustle.
- Porsha admitted she and Shamea were not on speaking terms. She felt that Shamea joined the series to take her down.
Shamea certainly wasn’t the only Housewife who had a hard time answering questions and showing receipts, but she claimed to be “more open” after Season 16. She told the host, “It’s been an incredible journey. And I pray that, moving forward, I can build alliances with all the ladies.”
If Shamea didn’t return to RHOA, it would presumably be to save her friendship with Porsha. She told Kelli on the After Show that she “just wanted it to be OK.” She continued, “I was being respectful of the fact that this is her space.”
For now, fans sit back and wait for Shamea and Bravo’s official announcement on where she stands for Season 17.
