Sharon Stone Reveals the Decisive Moment That Concluded Her Marriage

Sharon Stone chose to end her second marriage, largely due to how her spouse at the time handled a frightening health crisis she faced.

Appearing on David Begnaud’s podcast, “The Person Who Believed In Me,” the star of “Basic Instinct” recounted discovering tumors in her breasts during the early 2000s.

“One tumor was larger than my entire left breast,” she remembered. “A doctor came to my home and advised, ‘We recommend a bilateral mastectomy. The situation is dire. Typically, when tumors extend this far, we expect cancer.’”

At 68, Stone expressed her firm belief that her tumors were not malignant.

“I told him, ‘I don’t have cancer,’” she revealed on the podcast. “The doctor replied, ‘That’s not for you to decide.’ But I insisted, ‘Yes, it is. I’m making that decision.’”

Ultimately, the “Casino” star said she decided she would undergo the surgery “because I’m not f–king around.”

However, Stone’s then-husband made it clear that he did not support her decision.

“My husband said, ‘This is ridiculous,’” she remembered. “And got up and left the room.”

Podcast host Begnaud then asked the Stone, “Which part was ridiculous?”

She responded, “That I would have a bilateral [mastectomy]. He was furious.”

Begnaud asked, “Oh, not that the cancer, if it [were] true, might kill you?”

“No, no,” Stone replied.

The Oscar nominee said her husband was upset because she would have to have both of her breasts removed.

“And so the doctor said to him, ‘If I had more patients like her, we’d have more women alive today. You need to sit down.’ And I said, ‘I make the decisions, not you,’” she shared.

Stone said her husband’s reaction ultimately led to the demise of their relationship.

“That was the end of the marriage. That was it. He was done with me then. It was over,” she claimed.

“It was just over in the room. You could just tell. It was over. It was just over. He thought I was ridiculous. He thought it was foolish. He thought I was making too many decisions myself,” Stone added.

Though Stone did not name anyone, she was married to her second husband, Phil Bronstein, from 1998 to 2004.

The “Catwoman” actress’s tumors ended up being benign and she did not have to undergo a double mastectomy.

In 2021, Stone revealed that when she had the surgery to remove the tumors, the doctor allegedly gave her larger breast implants without her consent.

Page Six has reached out to Bronstein for comment but did not immediately hear back.
