Shirley Ballas, the esteemed head judge of BBC’s “Strictly Come Dancing,” recently provided her fans with an update following a distressing accident where she fell backward and struck her head on a glass table. The 65-year-old television personality was promptly taken to the hospital on Friday, where she underwent a series of tests and scans due to concerns about potentially fracturing her skull. On Sunday, January 18, Shirley took to Instagram to inform her followers about her condition, admitting that “everything hurts” in the aftermath of the alarming incident.
While on her way to see a physiotherapist named John, she conveyed through her Instagram Stories, “So just on my way to the physio now to see John after this neck head thing that happened. The spine, the back, the lower back, the knee, the ankle — everything hurts. So I’m going to go, and he’s gonna check all my spine and make sure it’s good, and then I’ll go home and have another day of rest. Can you believe it?”
Expressing her gratitude, Shirley continued, “Just trying to get everything sorted and grateful for the nurses, the doctors, and my friends who helped me with everything, so feeling in my head much better today and grateful, and I need to rest.”
Reflecting on the incident, she noted, “All those things that perhaps one doesn’t do because we’re always running around and never sit on a stool with a cushion.”
Shirley also mentioned she would share a demonstration of how the mishap occurred, cautioning her followers to be careful. “There was a little cushion on there and I slipped off it. Anyway, take care. Love you,” she concluded.
She also said a doctor said she was very lucky after falling on a glass table in her dressing room and hurting her head.
Shirley added: “I need to take it easy for 72 hours and hopefully should be as right as rain. And the knee and the ankle and the rest of the spine is due to the way I twisted when I fell.
“So he’s had a look at that, and I should feel like a new woman within 72 hours – can you imagine? A new woman!”
Shirley’s “scary fall” has come ahead of the star embarking on the Strictly Come Dancing tour around the UK with last year’s contestants.
