Paloma Faith, known for her role on Celebrity Traitors, has joyfully announced that she is expecting a child. The 44-year-old singer, who made her relationship with Stevie Thomas public earlier this year, shared that she is 18 weeks pregnant, proudly displaying her growing baby bump. The former Celebrity Traitors contestant, who was the first to be eliminated from the BBC show, took to Instagram to share her exciting news with the caption: “Plot twist, mother is mothering (again) #morethangeriatricpregnancy #oappregnancy #oapmilf #18weekspregnant.”
Already a mother of two daughters from her previous marriage to Leyman Lahcine, Paloma welcomed her first daughter in December 2016 and her second in February 2021. The couple split earlier this year after a nine-year relationship. Paloma has been open about her challenges with fertility, revealing that both of her daughters were conceived through IVF. Her journey included six rounds of IVF, during which she experienced an ectopic pregnancy and a heartbreaking miscarriage. Despite these challenges, she successfully gave birth to her first child after a particularly difficult second round of IVF.
Following an emergency C-section, Paloma faced further health issues, including fertility complications and post-partum psychosis.
In a candid conversation on the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast, she reflected on the ordeal, saying: “The birth was really difficult. It was actually unbearable.”
She elaborated on the experience, explaining: “It started with PROMS (Premature Rupture of Membranes), where you’re sort of in labor, and that happened when I was only 6 months pregnant. They told me, ‘You’re going to have to induce, you’re going to have a premature baby.’”
“I was really defiant, I was going to have that, so I was just in bed rest and downing 4 litres of water a day for a month to replenish the lost water.”
Detailing the aftermath of the difficult birth, Paloma continued: “After 21 hours in labour and no sleep for a week. I had 7 hours of sleep in 7 days.
“I had an emergency cesarean, which later on caused me fertility problems as well, and then a bit of post-partum psychosis because of lack of sleep, so I was, like, hallucinating. Probably depressed for a couple of years without realising.”
As for her further attempt to fall pregnant, the Gold crooner added: “Later, I wanted a second child, and then I had three failed transfers. The fourth one worked, and I was just so kind of headstrong about it.”
At the time, Paloma announced this pregnancy on Instagram and in her candid caption, she admitted she was proud of the accomplishment.
In 2020, she declared: “This child is so wanted. It’s my sixth round of IVF, and it was a struggle to get here. I had a very traumatic first birth, and I am also prone to postpartum depression.
“Being a mother is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me, but I will swell up and I won’t glow. I intend to be very real about this with you all! To all the other pregnant women out there who are as in love with their babies as me but simultaneously shi****g themselves, let’s do this.”
