The divorce between Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia was recently finalized after more than a year of drama. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star opened up about the demise of their relationship in an interview, and now, Simon is giving his side of the story and saying she blindsided him.

The news broke in February of 2024 that Porsha had filed for divorce from Simon. This was also around the time she announced her return to RHOA after a multi-year hiatus. 

Simon recently gave his thoughts to Page Six about his divorce from Porsha. The interviewer first asked if he regrets the marriage. Simon responded, “Absolutely.” He went on to say that she never gave him a reason for having filed for divorce from him. Notably, she has said that he was traveling when she filed. 

According to Simon, “She wouldn’t say anything. I tried to reach her mom. Her mom would not respond either. I later figured out this felt like a coup.” He went on, “I essentially sent her a text message. I said, ‘This was a $5 million rehab project that I took on.’”

Simon added, “She never shared her concerns or issues with me before filing for divorce. If you’re married, I’ve been married quite a bit, you discuss issues.” The businessman also stated that he understands the dynamics of relationships due to his multiple marriages. Additionally, he claimed he could show text messages to prove that he felt their marriage was in a stable condition before Porsha filed. 

When asked about his former wife’s reasoning for filing, Simon responded, “I think I was targeted. I was targeted from day one for financial reasons.”

He went on to say, “When I filed for divorce from my ex-wife, she was in my DMs praying for me, and I think I was in a vulnerable position at that time, and I entertained it, and so it just kind of snowballed from there.” He continued, “Getting engaged in 30 days, you know, who does that? I was out of my goddamned mind to have done that, and of course, I’m paying dearly for it.”

They then discussed the judge in his divorce’s decision to uphold the prenuptial agreement. He also discussed the terms of the prenup. In reacting to the ruling, he stated, “It’s basically what I’ve held from day one about this case when I realized that I was targeted. I’ve had prenups in previous relationships, and I’ve honored those prenups without reservation.”

He continued, “This time around, I’ve chosen to challenge in court, all the way to the Supreme Court if I have to. So, this enforcement of the prenup is going to continue to receive legal challenges on the appeal front.”

From there, they discussed Porsha paying Simon’s child support while ICE detained him. According to him, “She sent her two $2,500 payments in one month, and that was it. That didn’t even necessarily cover anything. I heard for the first time in court that that had happened.”

Simon went on, “I immediately texted my ex-wife, asking her, did she receive any funds from Porsha? She said, yes, Porsha reached out to her and offered. In my opinion, it was not done in good faith. It was done to give a narrative in court or to the public that ‘I paid Simon’s child support.’” 

When asked if Porsha had any relationship to Simon’s sons, he said, “Not particularly. My boys were with me for the last five-plus years. They’ve been with me one week on and one week off, and quite frankly, my kids don’t care who Daddy’s married to. She never developed any particular relationship with my kids.” Still, he said they “did family things together.”

The interviewer then asked if Simon felt he had a relationship with Porsha’s daughter. He explained, “I don’t have a relationship with her daughter simply because in the past, I’ve found [that] when I separate from any of my exes with children, there’s a tendency for them to use their children to get back at me. To try to come back into my life, and Porsha is no exception.”

He added, “She sent me a text telling me that her daughter misses me, and I didn’t respond because there was a concerted effort at some point that she realized she had made a mistake and wanted to reconcile. At that point, I was done.”
